The second conduits are at an impinging angle with respect to the first conduit. Replaceable, tunable jets are disposed in corresponding ones of the second conduits.
Abstract:
With a method for discharging slag from a water bath of a reactor for synthesis gas production, whereby the slag is brought to a lower pressure level by means of a transfer container, a solution is supposed to be created, with which the components connected with transferring the slag out are subject to a low temperature, whereby immediate slag transfer without water exchange is supposed to be made possible, with a minimal required cooling power. This is accomplished in that a cooling water stream is passed to the slag stream in the outlet region of the slag from the water bath of the gas generator or the pressurized container that surrounds it, in a region having a greater cross-section than the cross-section of the entry connector of another system part, such as, for example, the transfer container, in such a manner that temperature stratification in the outlet region is made possible.
Abstract:
A continuous slag processing system includes a rotating parallel disc pump, coupled to a motor and a brake. The rotating parallel disc pump includes opposing discs coupled to a shaft, an outlet configured to continuously receive a fluid at a first pressure, and an inlet configured to continuously discharge the fluid at a second pressure less than the first pressure. The rotating parallel disc pump is configurable in a reverse-acting pump mode and a letdown turbine mode. The motor is configured to drive the opposing discs about the shaft and against a flow of the fluid to control a difference between the first pressure and the second pressure in the reverse-acting pump mode. The brake is configured to resist rotation of the opposing discs about the shaft to control the difference between the first pressure and the second pressure in the letdown turbine mode.
Abstract:
A system includes a quench chamber configured to continuously receive a mixture of a gas and slag, and a downstream end portion coupled to the quench chamber. The quench chamber includes a quench sump configured to continuously separate the gas from the slag in the mixture via a quench liquid. The downstream end portion is configured to continuously convey a slag slurry to a depressurization system. The downstream end portion includes a cooling system configured to directly cool the slag slurry with a cooling fluid, and the slag slurry includes the separated slag and at least a portion of the cooling fluid
Abstract:
With a method for the generation of synthesis gas by means of gasification of solid or liquid carbonaceous fuels with an oxidation agent containing oxygen, in a reactor, wherein the synthesis gas is passed out of the reactor overhead, and the mineral ash/slag droplets that occur during the reaction are passed out of the reactor downward, in the direction of gravity, it is supposed to be made possible to use a flue-tube boiler, which is clearly less expensive, for heat removal in place of radiant boilers. This is achieved in that the synthesis gas is passed over a hot-gas filter (2), without being cooled, and subsequently passed through a flue-tube boiler (3), for cooling, wherein ash/slag particles precipitated on the hot-gas filter (2) are passed back into the gasification reactor (1), in the direction of gravity.

A thermal siphon is positioned between the first membrane water wall and the outer wall and is configured to channel a flow of syngas therethrough to facilitate cooling the channeled syngas.
Abstract:
A device for removing slag from a coal gasification or synthesis gas production process and a slag water bath is enclosed by the reaction vessel The slag is discharged by means of a lock-type transfer vessel arranged located downstream of the slag bath. A vessel includes an upper and a lower cylindrical section, the upper cylindrical section having a diameter larger than that of the lower cylindrical section and both sections are connected by a tapered section which preferably is conical in shape, the angle of the cone being similar to that of the angle of repose of the slag. A process for removing slag from a coal gasification reactor the process including a discharge of slag from the coal gasification reactor to a transfer vessel which precludes formation of slag incrustations in the transfer vessel is also defined.
