    摘要: A prescribed menu item on a menu table (108b) is picked to designate a method of defining a figure element, and a predefined figure element displayed on a display screen (106) is picked. A processor (102) defines a new figure element using the picked figure element definition method and the picked figure element, and defines a part profile using figure elements picked in the order of tool motion when the defining of all figure elements is completed. In this case, the processor expresses, in a first format based upon an automatic programming language, figure elements and the part profile as defined, and stores the figure elements and part profile in a storage ares (103b). Using a second format for the figure elements, each point is expressed as the coordinate values thereof, each straight line expressed as the coordinate values of two points, and each circle expressed as the coordinates of the center of the circle and the radius of the circular arc, are stored in a storage area 103c. when there is a request for output of the part profile, the processor (102) outputs the figure elements and the part profile in the automatic programming language using the first format. When a figure element designated by a graphic cursor is identified and when the figure is displayed, processing is performed using the second format.

    摘要: An automatic quilting machine for use in stitching individual selected patterns into a large fabric such as a bedspread or quilt. The bedspread or quilt is stretched on a large metal frame which is mounted on a table which can be moved in the X-direction, the Y-direction, or any X-Y combination direction. The sewing machine head is mounted on a cross beam which is aligned at the approximate center point of the metal frame on which the fabric is stretched. The needle of the sewing machine head can stitch a pattern into any location in the fabric and the metal frame is moved in any direction relative to the fixed sewing machine head in order to bring the desired stitch location on the fabric into alignment with the sewing machine head. The pattern can be created through reading by a scanner which then converts the pattern into machine readable language which is stored in a process controller. Alternatively, the pattern can be hand drawn on a monitor by graphic systems such as a mouse combined with computer aided design programs which provide graphic menus and through which the drawn pattern can be converted into machine readable language which is then stored in the memory of a process controller. The stored pattern can be subsequently stitched into the fabric through commands from the process controller which direct a remote control apparatus to move the table in the desired direction to create the pattern.

    摘要: An automatic quilting machine for use in stitching individual selected patterns into a large fabric such as a bedspread or quilt. The bedspread or quilt is stretched on a large metal frame which is mounted on a table which can be moved in the X-direction, the Y-direction, or any X-Y combination direction, either through a manually operated automatic joystick or mouse or through an automatic remote control directed by a computer. The sewing machine function is controlled by one computer connected to the sewing machine head and the quilting table motion in the X-direction, Y-direction, and X-Y direction is controlled by a separate computer. When it is desired to change a sewing machine computer function such as a stitch or accessory functions such as trim, the sewing machine computer can be independently reprogrammed. When it is desired to change the pattern, the separate computer controlling the X-Y table movement direction can be independently reprogrammed. It is not necessary to reprogram both funcions which is an enormous task. Instead, only one of the functions needs to be reprogrammed, thereby greatly simplifying the process.

    摘要: Constructive solid geometry is a technique of representing parts by adding and subtracting a set of primitive shapes. Automatic tool paths to machine a part with a rotating cutter are generated by taking the constructive solid geometric description of the part and replacing every primitive shape by an offset primitive, larger or smaller than the part by the cutter radius. A planar section slice of the offset part has the property that the center of the milling cutter will traverse this section curve and form the original part without gouging. To machine efficiently, a series of parallel slicing planes are taken from top to bottom through the offset part. For each section curve, numerical control machine code is generated to direct the cutter to follow that path, and the part is automatically machined. The method applies to both rough and finish cutting.
