    摘要: Systems and methods for anisotropic expansion of silicon-dominant anodes may include a cathode, an electrolyte, and an anode, where the anode may include a current collector and an active material on the current collector. An expansion of the anode during operation may be configured by a roughness and/or thickness of the current collector, a metal used for the current collector, and/or a lamination process that adheres the active material to the current collector. The expansion of the anode may be more anisotropic for thicker current collectors. A thicker current collector may be 10 μm thick or greater. The expansion of the anode may be more anisotropic for more rigid materials used for the current collector. A more rigid current collector may include nickel and a less rigid current collector may include copper. The expansion of the anode may be more anisotropic for a rougher surface current collector.

    摘要: Provided herein is a lead-acid battery for which the risk of breakage of a current collecting lug part of a plate while in use is eliminated by simple means. At least a positive plate group of the lead-acid battery includes: one or more plates each including a current collector having a current collecting portion formed by expanding or punching a lead alloy sheet manufactured by cold rolling, and one or more current collecting lug parts unitarily formed with the current collecting portion; and a strap formed by a cast-on strap casting method and coupled to the one or more current collecting lug parts. The current collecting lug part is formed with an elongated protrusion extending in a direction away from the current collecting portion. The elongated protrusion continuously extends in a direction toward the current collecting portion of the plate from inside the strap.

    摘要: A multiply-conductive matrix (MCM) for a current collector/electrode and a method of making the MCM are disclosed. The MCM includes a frame, preferably including a lug, the frame preferably made from a reticulated polymer foam substrate, and a body preferably made from the same substrate. The specific surface area of the frame is greater than the specific surface area of the body, resulting in greater rigidity and strength of the frame when the body and frame are joined to form an assembled matrix. Electrically conductive material is applied to the matrix to form the current collector. Optionally, a bonding material is also applied. Electro-active paste is applied to current if collector. The resulting MCM-based electrodes are ultra light and may be used as anode or cathodes in a lead-based battery, lithium ion battery, and nickel metal hydride battery for improved performance.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an electrode for an electrochemical element, that is capable of forming an electrode active material layer on a current collector, particularly a perforated current collector having through-holes extended from the obverse surface to the reverse surface thereof, such as a punching metal or an expanded metal, simply, evenly and with good adhesion. The method is characterized by comprising the steps of (1) forming an electrode active material layer on a surface of a base material by using an electrode composition containing an electrode active material, an electroconductive material, and a binder, (2) laminating a current collector on the electrode active material layer formed on the surface of the base material, followed by hot pressing to bond the electrode active material layer and the current collector to each other, and (3) separating the base material from the electrode active material layer.

    摘要: An electrode/separator assembly for use in an electrochemical cell includes a current collector; a porous composite electrode layer adhered to the current collector, said electrode layer comprising at least electroactive particles and a binder; and a porous composite separator layer comprising inorganic particles substantially uniformly distributed in a polymer matrix to form nanopores and having a pore volume fraction of at least 25%, wherein the separator layer is secured to the electrode layer by a solvent weld at the interface between the two layers, said weld comprising a mixture of the binder and the polymer. Methods of making and using the assembly are also described.
