Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method intended for heat insulation of a pipe (1), comprising the following successive stages: depositing, on the outer surface of the pipe moving longitudinally, a thickness (3) of an insulating material made of elastomer having an elastic type behaviour, substantially without irreversible plastic deformation, forming at least one circumferential slot (4) in the thickness of the material, substantially orthogonally to the axis (2) of the pipe, coating the insulating material thickness with a sealed sheath. In a variant, the slot is machined in the thickness of the insulant. The invention further relates to a heat-insulated pipe.

A compostion having improved fuel vapor barrier properties comprising a blend of about 20 to 80 weight percent of a first fluorointerpolymer with about 80 to 20 weight percent of a second fluorointerpolymer, the first fluorointerpolymer comprising a copolymer, terpolymer or mixture thereof formed by the copolymerization of two or more monomers selected from the group consisting of hexafluoropropylene, vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluoroethylene, and the second fluorointerpolymer comprising a copolymer, terpolymer or mixture thereof formed by the copolymerization of two or more monomers selected from the group consisting of hexafluoropropylene, vinylidene fluoride and tetrafluorotheylene, wherein the first fluorointerpolymer exhibits elastomer characteristics and the second fluorointerpolymer exhibits thermoplstic characteristics.
Abstract:
A targeted elastic laminate material having different zones of tension across a width of a material roll and methods for making the same. At least two polymers or polymer blends having different set properties are used to produce varying tension zones across the material. The targeted elastic laminate material has elastic properties that provide improved fit characteristics to disposable personal care products, while maintaining a flat roll profile that allows the material to be easily processed at a high speed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for effectively extruding a polypropylene polymer onto a cellulosic substrate. In the process, a polypropylene polymer is co-extruded with a polyolefin polymer other than polypropylene so as to stabilize the molten polypropylene polymer layer. Co-extrusion also allows extruding the polypropylene polymer at elevated temperatures so that the polypropylene is oxidized. Thus the polypropylene layer more readily bonds to a substrate without requiring a primer or ozone pretreatment step.
Abstract:
The invention is a tamper indicating device including a backing. The backing includes a first phase and a second phase. The backing is normally light transmissive, but a peeling force causes the backing to internally delamninate and become opaque. A first skin layer is fixed to the backing wherein the skin layer minimizes pre-destruction of the backing. A layer of adhesive is applied to the first skin layer, which can be affixed to a substrate.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a multi-layered web uses contoured honeycomb drums for the manufacture of non-woven webs used to make the multi-layered web. The method can use spunbonded, melt blown, or electro-static spun techniques for depositing solidifying filaments on outer collection surfaces of a multi-drum system. The multi-drum system may be employed to improve multi-layered web uniformity and the overall quality of the multi-layered web by presenting a single optimal collection surface for each independent web layer being produced.
Abstract:
This disclosed invention relates to a method of making a dry paint transfer laminate, comprising: extruding a paint film layer over a release liner; and extruding a pressure sensitive adhesive layer over the paint film layer.
Abstract:
A process of co-extrusion of a thin electrode sheet with a thin electrolyte polymer sheet directly onto a current collector sheet for a lithium polymer battery. The process includes the steps of: (a) mixing a polymer with active electrode material, lithium salt and electronic conductive material in a first mixing chamber to form an electrode slurry; (b) mixing a polymer with a lithium salt in a second mixing chamber to form an electrolyte slurry; (c) feeding the electrode slurry through a first flow channel and the electrolyte slurry through a second flow channel; (d) extruding the electrode slurry in the form of a thin electrode sheet through a first die opening connected to the first flow channel, the electrode slurry being extruded directly onto a current collector sheet; and (e) concurrently extruding the electrolyte slurry in the form of a thin electrolyte sheet through a second die opening adjacent to the first die opening and connected to the second flow channel, the thin electrolyte sheet being extruded directly onto the thin electrode sheet.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for producing a coated wire or other elongated article including a means to extrude a polymer in tubular form around the wire or article and a means to increase the temperature of the wire or article before extrusion of the polymer thereon. The extruded polymer is elongated from the extrusion opening to the elongated article, forming a melt cone, were the relative feeding speed of the heated elongated article and the extrusion rate of the polymer are controlled and with the aid of at least a partial vacuum that is achieved in the extrusion tooling and inside the melt cone the extruded polymer tightly encases the wire achieving a thin polymer coating.
