摘要： The present invention relates to a glass fiber binding composition having an effective binding amount of an aqueous compatible furan resin mixed with sufficient water to result in a binding composition having from 0.5 to 80% nonvolatile. The aqueous compatible furan resin is the reaction product of a source of ammonia and a first reaction product, the first reaction product being derived from the reaction of an acidic furan resin, a source of reactable formaldehyde, and a formaldehyde scavenger. The invention further pertains to a process of binding glass fibers at junctions of the fibers comprising the steps of providing glass fibers, applying an effect binding amount of the binding composition of the invention to the glass fibers such that the binder is present at a portion of the junctions, and curing the resin at the junctions of the glass fibers. Finally, the invention also discloses glass fiber compositions comprising a plurality of glass fibers having a plurality of junctions where two or more fibers meet, and an effective binding amount of the binding composition of the invention.

摘要： A sealer or adhesive composition based on a polyoxyalkylene polymer having a silicon-containing hydrolyzable group, which has improved adhesion in a dried, cured state with a paint coating containing acrylic resins, acrylic-urethane resins, or urethane resins. The improvement involves the addition to such a sealer/adhesive composition of an alkylarylsulfonamide contained therein in an amount of least about 50 phr or more, by weight. The invention also pertains to a method applying and adhering a paint coating to such a sealer composition after it is dried.

摘要： Alcohols preferably having a pka below that of propanol-1 are heated with certain heterocyclic phosphites to give phosphonates and certain heterocyclic phosphonites, to give phosphinates. If small amounts of alcohols are employed, the products are generally polymeric in nature whereas if larger amounts of the alcohol are employed, there is generally ring opening to the simpler monomer, or isomerization to the phosphonate or phosphinate. The products are useful as fire retardants and as adhesives for glass. Pentaerythritol phosphite can be self-polymerized by such heating to form the adhesive polymer.

摘要： Pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, sheet material coated therewith, and a kit for installing insulation around windows comprising the coated sheet material. The adhesive composition consists essentially of a first component consisting essentially of a tackified, emulsifiable adhesive and a second component consisting essentially of at least one terminally unsaturated vinyl monomer, at least one vinyl-unsaturated, homopolymerizable, emulsifier monomer, and, optionally a small amount of an external emulsifier. The adhesive provides high tack and excellent adhesion at both low temperatures and high temperatures, thus rendering it suitable for outdoor use in areas that encounter extremes of weather.
