A tribologically modified polyoxymethylene polymer composition is disclosed. The polyoxymethylene polymer composition is comprised of a polyoxymethylene polymer, reinforcing fibers, and at least one tribological modifier. The tribological modifier may comprise at least one tribological modifier comprising an ultra-high molecular weight silicone having a kinematic viscosity of greater than about 100,000 mm2s−1. The composition may exhibit a dynamic coefficient of friction against a counter-material of from about 0.001 to about 0.2. The polyoxymethylene polymer compositions provide polymer articles with improved tribological properties and mechanical properties. In one embodiment, the composition contains a polyoxymethylene polymer having functional groups, a coupling agent, reinforcing fibers, and the above silicone.

Particularly, the lubricating compositions include at least 55 wt % of a base oil selected from the group consisting of alkylated naphthalene, alkylated benzene and combinations thereof, and from 0 wt % to 45 wt % of another base oil component. The ratio of amine component to sulfur component in the additive combination is from 1:1 to 20:1. The compositions contain an amount of base oil other than alkylated naphthalene, alkylated benzene and API Group II, Group III, Group IV and/or ethylene copolymers of less than 10 wt % based on the total weight of the components comprising the lubricating composition.

There is provided O-polyalkoxylated high molecular weight nalkanone and n-alkanal oximes corresponding to the formula: BY CONTACTING AN N-PARAFFIN OXIME WITH A BASE, AND THEREAFTER REACTING THE OXIME WITH AN OXIRANE IN THE SUBSTANTIAL ABSENCE OF WATER. The high molecular weight n-alkanone and n-alkanal oximes provided herein are useful as nonionic surfactants, as biodegradable detergents, as chemical intermediates in the production of anionic detergents, as lubricating oil additives, and as anti-rust and anti-icing additives in fuels.
