The processes include passing the hydrogenation effluent to a metathesis unit that contacts the hydrogenation effluent with a metathesis catalyst and a cracking catalyst downstream of the metathesis catalyst to produce a metathesis reaction effluent comprising at least propene.

A process for producing at least one light olefin comprising: (a) contacting a first raw material comprising methanol with a least one catalyst in a first reaction zone to produce at least one light olefin and at least one inactivated catalyst; (b) transporting the at least one inactivated catalyst to a first regeneration zone to produce at least one first regenerated catalyst, and transporting a portion of the at least one first regenerated catalyst to the first reaction zone; (c) transporting another portion of the at least one first regenerated catalyst to a second regeneration zone to obtain at least one second regenerated catalyst; and (d) transporting the at least one second regenerated catalyst to a second reaction zone, and contacting the at least one second regenerated catalyst with a second raw material comprising C4 olefins to produce a product stream II comprising at least one light olefin.

A catalyst and process for opening aliphatic cyclic hydrocarbons have been developed. The catalyst comprises a catalytic metal component, a molecular sieve and refractory inorganic oxide component. The molecular sieve is selected from the group consisting of MAPSOs, SAPOs, UZM-8, UZM-8HS, UZM-15, UZM-15HS, UZM-16, UZM-16HS and mixtures thereof. Preferred catalytic metals include platinum, palladium and rhodium. The catalyst may also contain a modifier such as niobium, titanium, or rare earth metals.

A catalyst for selectively opening cyclic paraffins has been developed. The catalyst comprises a Group VIII metal, such as platinum, a modifier component, such as niobium or ytterbium, a molecular sieve, such as UZM-16 and a refractory inorganic oxide such as alumina. The Group VIII metal and modifier component are preferably deposited on the refractory inorganic oxide. A process for using the catalyst is also disclosed.

Novel class of crystalline microporous metal aluminophosphate compositions containing as lattice constituents in addition to AlO.sub.2 and PO.sub.2 structural units, one or a mixture of two or more of the metals Mg, Mn, Co and Zn in tetrahedral coordination with oxygen atoms. These compositions are prepared hydrothermally using organic templating agents and are suitably employed as catalysts or adsorbents.

A novel crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite characterized by having(a) a silica/alumina mole ratio in the range of from 10 to 100,(b) X-ray lattice distances d shown in Table A in the specification, and(c) a (cyclohexane/n-hexane) adsorption ratio of at least 0.7. This crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite is useful, for example, as a catalyst in the isomerization reaction or transalkylation reaction of alkylbenzenes or alkylnaphthalenes, and can be prepared by heating a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite ZSM-5 having a silica/alumina mole ratio of from 20 to 300 at a temperature between 80.degree. C. and 250.degree. C. in an aqueous solution containing 0.1 to 1 g, per gram of the ZSM-5 zeolite, of an alkali metal hydroxide.

THE REACTION MAY BE UTILIZED TO REMOVE ONE OR MORE METHYL OR METHYLENE GROUPS FROM ALIPHATIC, ALKYL AROMATIC OR ALICYCLIC COMPOUNDS, THEREBY REDUCING THE CARBON NUMBER OF SUCH COMPOUNDS. IN A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT THE REACTION TAKES PLACE AT A REDUCED TEMPERATURE.
