摘要: Tunable dielectric resonators for the modulation of freespace radiation and methods of using the resonators are provided. The dielectric resonators include a planar waveguide that supports a vertical Fabry-Perot resonance, a grating that supports a qBIC resonance, and a radiation absorbing material having an electronically or thermally tunable absorption at the qBIC resonant frequency. Using this resonator design, the intensity of the transmission and reflection of the qBIC resonance can be modulated by modulating the absorption properties of the absorbing material at the qBIC resonant frequency.

摘要: A display system includes an integrated laser and modulator device and a display assembly. The integrated laser and modulator device includes a laser component configured to facilitate light emission responsive to applied current and a modulator component configured to selectively modulate light responsive to applied signal. The modulator component is integrally coupled to the laser component via a bridging structure that intervenes between the laser component and the modulator component. At least a portion of the bridging structure facilitates power reflectivity into a laser cavity of the laser component. The bridging structure facilitates transmission of light emitted by the laser component into the modulator component for modulation by the modulator component to provide modulated light. The display assembly is configured to direct the modulated light provided by the integrated laser and modulator device to illuminate pixels to form an image.

摘要: An electrokinetic device is configured as a dynamic lens cover and/or filter for an imaging assembly, e.g., of a mobile device, to selectively allow electromagnetic radiation to pass through a lens of the imaging assembly when the dynamic lens cover is in a first operating state or to prevent electromagnetic radiation from reaching the lens of the imaging assembly when the dynamic lens cover is in a second operating state. The electrokinetic device includes transparent first and second substrates, and a compaction trench surrounding the lens of the imaging assembly. The compaction trench stores pigment when the dynamic lens cover is in the first operating state. In the second operating state pigment is dispersed within a carrier fluid between the first and second substrates.

摘要: A variably transmissive electro-optic window that has an easily tunable dynamic range is disclosed. The window comprises a first substrate, a second substrate, a first electrode, a second electrode, an electro-optic medium, and at least one tuning layer. The first substrate has a first and a second surface. The first surface is in a first direction relative the second surface. The second substrate has a third and a fourth surface. The third surface is disposed in the first direction relative the fourth surface. The second substrate is disposed in a second direction opposite the first direction relative the first substrate. The second substrate is additionally disposed in a substantially parallel and spaced apart relationship with the first substrate. The first electrode is disposed in the second direction relative the first substrate. The second electrode is disposed in the first direction relative the second substrate. The electro-optic medium is disposed between the first and second electrodes. Additionally, the electro-optic medium is operable to vary a transmittance of light therethrough. Lastly, a tuning layer is substantially transparent and operable to attenuate the transmittance of visible light therethrough.

摘要: A display device having switchable viewing angle includes a display panel including a first emission area, a second emission area, a third emission area and a fourth emission area, from which light in different wavelength bands is emitted, and a transparent photochromic layer disposed on at least one surface of the display panel, wherein each of the first emission area, the second emission area and the third emission area emits light in a wavelength band of visible light, the fourth emission area emits light in a wavelength band of ultraviolet ray, and when the fourth emission area is in an emission state, an area of the photochromic layer including the area corresponding to the fourth emission area is an opaque area, and wherein when the fourth emission area is in a non-emission state, an area of the photochromic layer including the area corresponding to the fourth emission area is a transparent region, thereby providing a display device capable of switching viewing angles.

摘要: A lenticular display may be formed with convex curvature. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film with lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display. To enable more curvature in the display while ensuring satisfactory stereoscopic display performance, the display may have stereoscopic zones and non-stereoscopic zones. A central stereoscopic zone may be interposed between first and second non-stereoscopic zones. The non-stereoscopic zones may have more curvature than the stereoscopic zone. To prevent crosstalk within the lenticular display, a louver film may be incorporated into the display. The pixel array may have a diagonal layout and may be covered by vertically oriented lenticular lenses.

摘要: A system includes a first multilayer surface that includes a plurality of layers. The system further includes a plurality of sensors and circuitry. The circuitry receives a plurality of signals from the plurality of sensors and projection data associated with a media content projectable by a projection device. The projection data includes contrast control information associated with the media content. The circuitry determines ambient condition of an enclosed space based on the received plurality of signals. The circuitry selects one or more portions of the plurality of layers of the first multilayer surface based on the determined ambient condition or the projection data. The circuitry controls an opacity level of the selected one or more portions of the first multilayer surface to provide dynamic shade control in the enclosed space or improve contrast of the projected media content based on the determined ambient condition or the projection data.
