    Abstract: Thermally de-bondable adhesives are formed from curable compositions that have a two-stage curing mechanism. The first stage of curing forms a pressure sensitive adhesive and the second stage of curing, reduces the adhesion of the adhesive. The curable composition includes a curable composition and a thermally de-bonding composition. The curable composition includes a first alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer with 4-12 carbon atoms, a second hydroxyl-functional (meth)acrylate monomer, a crosslinker, and an initiator. The thermally de-bonding composition includes a blocked multi-functional isocyanate, and a metal salt catalyst. The Peel Adhesion of the cured adhesive upon heating to at least 180° C. for 1 hour is reduced by at least 15%.

    Abstract: An article 10 is provided with an adhesive layer 14 that includes an adhesive, a release layer 12 that is stacked on the adhesive layer 14, and an air layer 16 that is interposed between the adhesive layer 14 and the release layer 12. On a surface 12a of the release layer 12 that opposes the adhesive layer 14, microprotrusions 20 that contact the adhesive layer 14 with tips 20a are provided. The microprotrusions 20 are provided with a wall-shaped portion 22 having a shape that at least partially surrounds the air layer 16 between the adhesive layer 14 and the release layer 12. The wall-shaped portion 22 protects a main portion 14a of the adhesive layer 14 that is adjacent to the air layer 16 from contamination. By selecting a shape, dimensions, and the like of the micro protrusions 20, a release force of the release layer 12 can be adjusted to a desired range.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method for forming microporous and antimicrobial articles. The method comprises preparing an initial composition containing a semicrystalline polylactic acid material, a nonpolymeric aliphatic ester diluent, and a nucleating agent. The initial composition is heated to form a melt blended composition. Upon cooling, the melt blended composition phase separates into a composition having two continuous phases. A network of interconnected micropores may be formed by stretching the composition, by removing at least a portion of the nonpolymeric aliphatic ester diluent from the composition, or a combination thereof.
