Abstract: Systems and methods of providing a V2X communications are generally described. A geographically-limited, operator-independent mapping table is used that maps between groups of V2X applications each associated with a different application category and a different RAT preferred for the V2X application category. Each grouping is based on fulfillment of one or more KPIs for the associated V2X application category. Multiple RATs are prioritized if able to fulfill the KPIs. The mapping table is modified based on the RATs supported by the V2X UE. Carrier aggregation is used when simultaneous transmission on different RATs is desired.

Abstract: The techniques, described herein, may enable a wireless telecommunication network to manage Mobility Management Entity (MME) overload scenarios by causing a Radio Access Network (RAN) node to temporarily bar certain User Equipment (UEs) from connecting to the RAN node. In some embodiments, UEs may be barred from connecting to the RAN node based on which UEs are operating in an enhanced coverage mode, Coverage Enhancement (CE) levels of each UE, and/or a measured Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) of each UE.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus of a User Equipment (UE) device includes memory storing non-public network (NPN) configuration information, a radio frequency (RF) interface, and processing circuitry coupled to the memory and the RF interface. The RF interface receives information broadcast by a radio access network (RAN) node of the particular NPN, where the information includes a NPN indicator indicating that the RAN node supports a NPN and NPN service information indicating services supported by the particular NPN. The processing circuitry establishes, in response to detecting the NPN indicator in the information received from the RAN node, a connection to the particular NPN based on the NPN configuration information and the NPN service information received from the RAN node.

Abstract: Technology for a virtualized network function manager (VNFM) in a mixed wireless network operable to facilitate instantiation of a virtualized network function (VNF) instance is disclosed. The VNFM can receive a request to instantiate a new VNF instance from a network manager (NM) via a network function virtualization (NFV) orchestrator (NFVO), the request including VNF instantiation information. The VNFM can send a request to a virtualized infrastructure manager (VIM) for allocating virtual resources for the new VNF instance based on the VNF instantiation information. The VNFM can receive an acknowledgement from the VIM after successful allocation of the virtualized resources for the new VNF instance. The VNFM can instantiate the new VNF instance and send an acknowledgement of the new VNF instance to the NFVO, wherein the new VNF instance is operable to ease congestion at an overloaded non-virtualized network element in the mixed wireless network.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing V2X communications are generally described. The multimode UE communicates V2X messages with an eNB. The eNB detects whether the UE is able to receive messages from a nearby DSRC RSU based on measurements received from the UE and reported to the eNB. Based on the measurements, the eNB offloads V2X traffic to the DSRC RSU and triggers the UE to start communicating the V2X services from the DSRC RSU rather than the eNB. The measurements are reported in a BSR or DSRC MAC control element or RRC measurement report. The measurement report includes DSRC presence fields, CCH measurements and SCH measurements for each DSRC RSU that the UE is able to detect.

Abstract: Relay service is enabled between a residential gateway and a remote user. For example, a 5G residential gateway (5G-RG) may include a relay user equipment (UE) to enable relay service for a 5G core (5GC)-capable UE behind the 5G-RG to connect to the 5GC. The relay UE of the 5G-RG may provide a trusted/untrusted non-3GPP access network for L2 or L3 transport connection to the 5GC-capable UE.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may be configurable to operate as an initiating UE for a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) application that includes PCS communication between the initiating UE and a receiving UE. The initiating UE may receive, from a base station, control signaling that indicates a default PCS radio access technology (RAT) for the V2X service. The default PCS RAT may be either a Long Term Evolution (LTE) PCS RAT or a New Radio (NR) PCS RAT. Based on the default PCS RAT and/or PCS RATs supported by the initiating UE, the initiating UE may select either the LTE PCS RAT or the NR PCS RAT. The selected PCS RAT may be proposed, in a negotiation with the receiving UE, for the V2X service.

Abstract: Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, virtualized network function resources may be managed in a network. Performance measurements may be received for at least one mobility management entity (MME) in an MME pool, or for other network elements. If at least one of the performance measurements exceeds at least one predetermined threshold, instantiation of a new mobility management entity virtual network function (MME VNF) may be requested, and the MME VNF may be instantiated in response to the request. One or more user equipment (UE) devices managed by the MME pool may be connected to the added MME VNF.

Abstract: Techniques for identifying and remedying performance issues of Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) are discussed. An example method includes outputting a request to a network Element Manager (EM) to create a Virtualized Network Function (VNF) Performance Measurement (PM) job to collect VNF PM data from a VNF and receiving a set of VNF PM data associated with the VNF from the EM. The set of VNF PM data is processed associated with the VNF. A request to the EM is output to create a Virtualization Resource (VR) PM job to collect, through a VNF Manager (VNFM) and a virtualized infrastructure manager (VIM), VR PM data from a VR used by the VNF. Then a set of VR PM data is received from the EM and processed.
