Abstract: A method of creating a native vessel bypass percutaneously includes steps of selecting a target procedural site adjacent to a paired artery and vein, usually near an occlusion or blockage disposed in the artery and advancing a catheter through the vein with its distal tip extending through the vessel walls into the adjacent artery. An anastomosis is formed by applying heat to tissue forming the vessel walls which is captured between surfaces on a proximal base and the distal tip of the catheter. The venous valves are disabled to permit retrograde venous flow of arterial blood, in order to bypass the arterial occlusion.

Abstract: In some embodiments an apparatus for providing access for a medical procedure in a patient's body cavity includes a stem configured for insertion through an opening in a body cavity wall. The stem has a bore and a cap is disposed at a proximal end thereof and includes an entry port in communication with the bore which receives an instrument to be inserted into the body cavity. An inflatable annular seal is disposed on the stem proximate the cap and a conduit extends through the cap providing pressurized gas at a first outlet in fluid communication with the body cavity providing insufflation pressure. A second outlet of the conduit is in fluid communication the seal, which when disposed inside the body cavity proximate the wall and inflated by pressurized gas, bears on an inner surface of the wall urging the cap into contact with an outer surface of the wall while sealing the opening.

Abstract: A method comprises deploying a tool to a passageway exit site through a lumen of a flexible elongate device. The flexible elongate device comprises a proximal end, a distal end, and the lumen therebetween, and the tool comprises a needle. The method further comprises puncturing a passageway wall at the passageway exit site with the needle. The method further comprises deploying the needle through the passageway wall and through target tissue at a target location beyond the passageway wall. The method further comprises deploying an instrument to perform treatment on the target tissue at the target location. The instrument is deployed within the tool and through a perforation created in the target tissue by the needle.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing a hair transplant using a hair transplant device. The hair transplant device comprises a coring needle, a splitting needle, a housing, and a user interface. The coring needle forms a coring lumen configured to extract a hair follicle from a donor site. The splitting needle is configured to create an opening in a recipient site. The housing at least partially surrounds one of the coring needle and the splitting needle. The user interface extends from the housing and is movable relative to the coring needle to push the hair follicle from the coring lumen into the opening in the recipient site formed by the splitting needle.

Abstract: An access device for accessing an intervertebral disc having an outer shield comprising an access shield with a larger diameter (˜16-30 mm) that reaches from the skin down to the facet line, with an inner shield having a second smaller diameter (˜5-12 mm) extending past the access shield and reaches down to the disc level. This combines the benefits of the direct visual microsurgical/mini open approaches and the percutaneous, “ultra-MIS” techniques.
