The upper layer has ribs protruding along its length that are substantially parallel to one another, and continuous substantially parallel and adjacent seams formed therebetween. Conductors are placed between the upper and lower layers adjacent the seams. The present invention may have upper and lower polyester layers having copper conductors therebetween and the seams ultrasonically welded in order to provide a flat electrical cable for various applications such as incorporation in an automobile clockspring. The modular rotary anvil includes multiple removable and interchangeable segments or inserts which provide the ability to impart a smooth or knurled textured surface pattern to the work-piece. piece. Other inserts include cutting inserts which provide for a seam on the work-piece while a the same time cuts the work-piece along a seam.
Abstract:
A warning system for an ignition switch that includes a housing of the ignition switch and a plunger having at least a portion slidably received in the housing, a key abutment end and a contact abutment end opposite the key abutment end. The plunger is movable between first and second positions with respect to the housing along a longitudinal axis thereof. First and second contacts are positioned in the housing. The first and second contacts are spaced from one another when the plunger is in the first position. The first and second contacts are in contact when the plunger is in the second position. At least one of the first and second contacts is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis.
Abstract:
A multi-port receptacle assembly is provided having a housing forming multiple ports and having electrical connectors mounted within the ports so that upon assembly with a base via mounting features between the base and the housing a uniform multi-port assembly is provided that may be easily transported and installed to a motherboard.
Abstract:
An electrical switch assembly for actuating an electrical circuit by closing at least one pair of conducting contacts in a sliding manner is disclosed. The assembly includes a contact carrier within a switch housing, a spring attached to the carrier that biases the carrier in an electrical circuit open position, a slot connected to the carrier that receives a force transfer member, and a force transfer member that is insertable into the slot and transfers a force applied by a switch operator to an angled wall portion of the slot. The angle of the wall portion is preferably 45-degrees relative to the axis of travel of the force transfer member. In operation, when the force transfer member is inserted into the slot and pushes against the angled wall, the carrier is displaced approximately orthogonal to the insertion direction of the force transfer member to move the contacts in the carrier from an electrical circuit open position to an electrical circuit closed position.

Abstract:
A PCB package for shielding electromagnetic radiation from exiting or entering the package. In one embodiment the package includes first and second electrically conductive covers and first and second electrically conductive frames. The first frame electrically connected to the first cover and the second frame electrically connected to the second cover. The first frame is then electrically connected to the second frame. The first and second frames can be made of electrically conductive plastics or metals or any other electrically conductive materials. Methods of assembling the packages of the various embodiments are also set forth.
Abstract:
A conductive via filler for printed wiring boards capable of reducing copper oxides and thereby eliminating a cleaning step in printed wiring board construction, the conductive via filler consisting essentially of silver flake, a resin, a hardener, and a titanate coupling compound. The filler or paste may further include one or more of a flexibilizer, a solvent, and/or an accelerator. It is a feature of the invention that extensive pre-cleaning of copper substrates is obviated.
Abstract:
An insulation displacement contact for connecting to a flat conductor of a flat cable, where the flat conductor has a width dimension greater than its thickness dimension. The insulation displacement contact including a base, a first tine connected to the base and a second tine connected to the base. The first tine having a first edge and a second edge. The first edge being adjacent to a free end, where the free end has a first knife edge. The second tine having a third edge and a fourth edge. The third edge being adjacent to a free end, where the free end has a knife edge. The third edge of the second tine opposes the first edge of the first tine. The first edge of the first tine being separated from the third edge of the second tine by a first distance. The fourth edge of the second tine opposes the second edge of the first tine. The second edge of the first tine being separated from the fourth edge of the second tine by a second distance. The first distance being greater than the second distance. A support surface positioned between the first tine and the second tine so as to urge the conductor towards the base.
Abstract:
An optoelectronic transmitter is provided including a laser diode. A control circuit for driving the laser diode includes a current source which provides a DC bias current to the laser diode, and the laser diode emits an optical signal having an average power determined by the magnitude of the bias current. A voltage regulator establishes a regulated supply voltage which is input to a first reference circuit and a feedback monitor circuit. The first reference circuit establishes a first fixed reference voltage. The feedback monitor circuit includes a monitor device for measuring the optical power emitted by the laser diode, and the monitor circuit establishes a variable monitor voltage proportional to the optical power measured by the monitor device. An op-amp compares the first fixed reference voltage and the feedback monitor voltage, and the output voltage of the op-amp controls the magnitude of the bias current output by the current source. A disable switch is incorporated for selectively blocking the bias current to the laser upon receipt of a DISABLE signal. A second reference circuit is provided for developing a second derived reference voltage, and an analog switch which is also actuated by the DISABLE signal connects the second derived reference voltage to the feedback monitor circuit while the DISABLE signal is active. Otherwise, the analog switch connects the regulated supply voltage to the feedback monitor circuit at all other times.
Abstract:
An elastomeric connector having fine pitched contacts is provided in addition to a method for connecting components using such a connector and a method of manufacturing the same. The connector includes a body formed from an elastomeric material with contacts arranged to extend through the body and exposed at each side of the body. The contacts are bent to form a contact surface that is oriented at an angle with respect to the sides of the body. The contacts may include a radiused section that is formed in the elastomeric material. Grooves may be formed in the body of the connector separating adjacent contacts and providing additional flexibility of the connector. The contacts may provide for a wiping action of between 0.003 and 0.015 inches and the connector may provide for a spring force of greater than between 15 and 90 grams per contact after 10,000 cycles.
