A phase input of the BLDC motor is tri-stated during PWM periods in which the phase input conducts motor drive current, and the tri-stating of the phase input is used to determine whether a BEMF zero cross has occurred in the BLDC motor.

    摘要: A drive circuit for supplying drive signals to a plurality of windings of a multi-phase d.c. motor. The drive circuit comprises a multi-phase inverter which supplies the drive signals to the motor windings; a phase detector which samples the back-emf signal of a winding in order to obtain a phase-error signal; a low-pass filter which generates a control signal dependent upon the phase-error signal; and a controllable oscillator which generates a frequency signal whose phase and frequency depend on the control signal. The timing with which the multi-phase inverter supplies the drive signals to the windings is dependent on the frequency signal. The drive circuit further comprises a masking circuit for temporarily inhibiting the further processing of the phase-error signal by the low-pass filter, at least during the presence of a flyback signal in the phase-error signal, as a result of which the processing of the flyback pulses present in the phase-error signal is inhibited.

The method includes isolating a ripple waveform from a current signal originating from a brushed direct current motor (BDCM). The method includes determining the wave count of the ripple waveform. The method includes determining a position of a movable structure operably coupled to a shaft of the BDCM according to the wave count of the ripple waveform. The present technology may be practiced without discrete capacitor components in high pass filtering aspects of the disclosed circuit. The methods, circuits and computer program products can be implemented to accurately determine a rotational position of a shaft of a BDCM and also position(s) of mechanism(s) coupled to the shaft without requiring any external sensors or other components for this purpose other than the disclosed circuits.
