Abstract:
Water-based paints having improved properties are disclosed. Improvements in resistance to crater formation and dirt pick-up is achieved by incorporation of crosslinked latex into a water-based paint comprising (a) an amino resin crosslinking agent, (b) a mixture of at least two copolymers of acrylic monomers, (c) an amine and (d) water or water and an organic solvent.
Abstract:
Coated electrical steel sheets having excellent punchability, weldability and insulation resistance are produced by applying an electrical steel sheet with a treating dispersion obtained by compounding the particle separating resin emulsion and the compatible resin to an aqueous solution containing chromic acid in the particularly defined amount and baking the thus applied steel sheets. To the treating dispersion may be added saccharides or polyhydric alcohols as a reducing agent or boric acid or phosphoric acid.
Abstract:
A novel complexer for use in aqueous coating compositions formed from acidic resins, as well as the coating compositions, are described. The complexer is formed from a metal having a coordination value in excess of its valence and a polyalkylene polyamine along with, optionally, organic acids and cometals. The acidic resin, partially neutralized with ammonia, is added to the formed complexer to form the coating composition, a coordinate, which, upon drying, provides films which are water resistant and have excellent wet rub resistance. The coating compositions are particularly useful for inks, including gravure and flexographic inks.
Abstract:
THE APPLICATION OF FLUORACARBON POLYMERS COATINGS ON METAL ARTICLES BY ELECTRODEPOSITION IS THE SUBJECT OF THIS INVENTION; AQUEOUS DISPERSIONS CONTAINING CARBOXYLIC ACID POLYMER HAVING AN ACID NUMBER OF ABOUT 6-25 NEUTRALIZED WITH A WATER SOLUBLE BASIC COMPOUND, SUCH AS AMMONIA, AN AMINE, METAL HYDROXIDE, CONTAIN UNIFORMLY DISPERSED FLUOROCARBON POLYMER PARTICLES WHICH CAN BE ELECTRODEPOSITED ON METAL ARTICLES. ELECTRODEPOSITION OF FLUOROCARBON POLYMERS IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL IN COATING IRREGULAR SHAPED OBJECTS, SUCH AS SCREWS, NUTS AND BOLTS, AND IS ALSO USEFUL IN COATING OBJECTS, SUCH AS COOKWARE, TOOLS AND THE LIKE.
Abstract:
Product and process for producing a multilayer coating composition by depositing a nonaqueous, pigmented, cellulose ester containing polymeric base film on a substrate and before baking, depositing (wet-on-wet) a transparent polymeric topcoat composition on the base film and baking the resulting multilayer system.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a carbodiimide composition containing a water-soluble modified polycarbodiimide (A) and a water-insoluble polycarbodiimide (B), a curing agent composition using the same, a coating composition, and a resin cured product.
Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a composition that delivers high barrier properties in fewer coating steps. The present invention solves this problem by providing a composition for gas barrier purposes that contains at least one carboxyl-containing resin (A), at least one divalent metal compound (B), and at least one alcohol (C). The alcohol (C) content of the composition is between 85 and 98 wt %, and the water content of the composition is 1% or less. The present invention, furthermore, is one that provides a gas barrier coating agent containing this composition for gas barrier purposes and a laminate having a substrate and a coat layer obtained by applying this coating agent.
Abstract:
This coating solution for a gas barrier contains an ammonium salt (A) of a polymer having a carboxyl group, a particulate multivalent metallic compound (B), and water, the content of the multivalent metallic compound (B) being about 0.5-2.0 times the chemical equivalent of the ammonium salt (A), and the mean particle diameter of the multivalent metallic compound (B) being about 4 μm or less.
Abstract:
Provided herein are aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions can comprise a first copolymer derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and a second carboxy-functional copolymer derived from one or more carboxylic acid-containing monomers. The aqueous dispersions can be used to prepare low- or zero-VOC aqueous coating compositions that possess desirable properties, including good block resistance and scrub resistance. Coatings and coating formulations comprising the aqueous dispersion, as well as methods of making and using the same are also provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous composition for surface coating, including: a main ingredient comprising a first compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group and combinations thereof, per molecule; a curing agent comprising a second compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of an aziridine group, an isocyanate group, a carbodiimide group and combinations thereof, per molecule; and an aqueous solvent. Further, an automotive sheet using the aqueous composition for surface coating is disclosed.
