    摘要: A data bus of a DVD+RW recorder between a DSP and a SDRAM usually needs a multilayer wiring board. In order to simplify the layout of the wiring board of the data bus there is provided a method for connecting at least a first and a second integrated circuit by providing the first integrated circuit having a plurality of first logical I/O ports physically arranged in a first order at the periphery, and providing the second integrated circuit having a plurality of second logical I/O ports physically arranged in a second order at the periphery, wherein each first I/O port is to be connected to one of said second I/O ports. The first and second I/O logical ports are connected independently from the first and/or second physical order, so that connection lines do not cross each other.

    摘要: A mode-locked integrated semiconductor laser has a gain section and an absorption section that are based on quantum-confined active regions. The optical mode(s) in each section can be modeled as occupying a certain cross-sectional area, referred to as the mode cross-section. The mode cross-section in the absorber section is larger in area than the mode cross-section in the gain section, thus reducing the optical power density in the absorber section relative to the gain section. This, in turn, delays saturation of the absorber section until higher optical powers, thus increasing the peak power output of the laser.

    摘要: An external cavity laser apparatus and method wherein wavelength or channel selection is carried independently from adjustment of external cavity optical path length. The apparatus comprises a wavelength or channel selector tuner and an external cavity tuner, wherein the wavelength tuner is uncoupled from the external cavity tuner. The tuning mechanisms for wavelength selection and cavity optical path length are configured to operate independently or orthogonally with respect to each other. The wavelength tuner may operate according to a first, channel selection signal, while the external cavity tuner operates according to a second, external cavity adjustment signal. The wavelength tuner and external cavity tuner may operate under the control of the same, or of separate controllers. The channel selection signal may be derived from a look-up table of adjustment parameter data accessed by a controller, and the external cavity adjustment signal may be derived from an error signal from a detector configured to measure external cavity loss.
