The control unit searches for media equipment (including media players) located within an area and retrieves user interaction information corresponding to discovered media players. The control unit can be instructed to control any of the discovered media players. The control unit uses the retrieved user interaction information to adapt. The control unit may periodically, or when relocated, look for new media players in its neighborhood. The control unit interacts with multiple multimedia sources that supply video and/or audio to the media players. The control unit may have a screen on which it displays a video in addition to controlling selection and presentation of a video and/or an audio in any one of the discovered media players. The control unit maintains an updateable media guide that provides a list of multimedia elements available for viewing and/or listening.

摘要： A broadband gateway may be used to provide peer-to-peer communications with other broadband gateways. One or more peer-to-peer connections may be configured with each of the other broadband gateway, for use in peer-to-peer communications, which may be utilized to communicate shared content among the broadband gateways. Users may receive incentives for participating in peer-to-peer communications, comprising sharing credits and/or reduced charges. The broadband gateway may track and/or aggregate sharing credits based on communication of shared content. Peer-to-peer connections may be configured using at least one physical layer connection utilized by the broadband gateway in communicating with corresponding access network service provider. Peer-to-peer connections may also be configured using direct connections and/or links between the broadband gateways. The broadband gateway may generate a directory for use in conjunction with peer-to-peer operations. The directory may be presented via a user interface. The broadband gateway may generate and/or communicate peer-to-peer related alerts.

A display system includes a pixel array, a screen assembly, and a screen surface. The screen assembly and the pixel array are controlled to cause various settings for a regionally adjustable characteristic of the screen assembly to be applied to respective regions of the screen assembly. Each setting specifies a value of the regionally adjustable characteristic that is to control or affect a visual characteristic that is associated with content that is to be presented in the corresponding region. A user may provide an input signal that specifies setting(s) for the regionally adjustable characteristic with respect to specified region(s) of the screen assembly.

摘要： A broadband gateway, which that enables communication with a plurality of devices, handles at least one physical layer connection to at least one corresponding network access service provider. The broadband gateway may identify EPG information from service providers. The identified EPG information may be adapted to device attributes such as display resolution, and/or user profiles to generate user-specific EPG information for the corresponding devices. The generated user-specific EPG information may be dynamically configured in response to updates in the identified EPG information, the device attributes and/or the user profiles. The configured user-specific EPG information may be communicated to the corresponding devices, either upon the requests from the devices or by initiation of the broadband gateway, for content selection and/or content scheduling. Advertising content, selected based on analysis of the user behavior and/or the user feedbacks, may be communicated in the user-specific EPG information to the devices to support behavioral marketing.

The requested service may comprise obtaining and/or delivering content for consumption by one or more of a plurality of devices serviced by the broadband gateway in the home network. The criteria may comprise device related data, user preference related information, service performance related parameters, payment related information, and/or energy use related information. The broadband gateway may store information associated with the determined criteria.
