A device that may include a narrowband filter that is arranged to pass radiation within a main signal waveband in which a muzzle flash is expected to include energy above a first energy threshold; a first single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) arranged to detect photons of the main signal waveband during different points in time and to output first digital detection signals representative of the photons of the main signal waveband; and a signal processor that is arranged to receive the first digital detection signals and to detect, in response to at least the first digital detection signals, the muzzle flash.
Abstract:
The invention provides a bioreactor and methods for tissue cultivation. A bioreactor module comprises a container, a holder adapted to hold a scaffold containing an inherent vascular network, an inlet connectable to a vessel of the inherent vascular network, an inflatable device disposed within the container, and a pair of electrodes attached to opposing walls of the container, wherein the holder is removably receivable in the container and the inflatable device has a conduit extending through a wall of the container. An alternative embodiment provides an in-vitro method for tissue cultivation, comprising seeding an interior and an exterior of a vessel of an inherent vascular network of a scaffold with a first and a second cell type, respectively, and perfusing through the inherent vascular network with culture medium to facilitate compartmentalized co-cultivation of the first and the second cell type in different niches of the tissue. A further embodiment provides an in-vitro method for tissue cultivation, comprising seeding a surface of a scaffold with a predetermined cell type, and perfusing the scaffold with culture medium from an opposite surface of the scaffold through the scaffold and towards the seeded surface to create a nutrient/oxygen gradient and cause migratory diffusion induced penetration of cells towards the opposite surface.

Each sensing element includes a thermal infrared sensor, configured to output an electric signal in response to an intensity of infrared radiation that is incident on the sensor. An individual reflector is formed integrally with the sensor at a location separated from the sensor by one quarter wave at a selected wavelength of the infrared radiation.

An embodiment of the invention further provides a use of a transition metal complex of a corrole, an optically active isomer thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof for lowering serum glucose and serum triglyceride levels in a subject suffering from diabetes.
Abstract:
A self-propelled device for locomotion through a lumen, comprising a set of serially arranged inflatable chambers, adjacent chambers being fluidly connected, and a fluid source attached to one end of the set, such that the chambers inflate sequentially. The chambers are constructed of an elastic material and have a wall thickness and dimensions such that they have a characteristic with a non-monotonous relationship between the inflation pressure within the chamber and the chamber's inflated size. The characteristic is such that after an initial inflation pressure peak, the non-monotonous relationship adopts a negative slope, such that the volume of the chamber increases more rapidly than the volume of fluid flowing into it, and the inflation pressure of the chamber falls. This effect causes the chamber to inflate and anchor rapidly, while essentially slowing down the inflation of the succeeding chamber until inflation of the first is complete.

Novel alpha-hydrogen substituted nitroxyl compounds and their corresponding oxidized (oxoammonium cations) and reduced (hydroxylamine) forms, and the use of such compounds, inter alia, for oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to aldehydes and ketones, respectively; resolution of racemic alcohols; desymmetrization of meso-alcohol; as radicals and spin trapping reagents; and as polymerization agents. Processes for preparing the novel nitroxyl/oxoammonium/hydroxylamine compounds from the corresponding amines, and certain novel amine derivatives and their uses. The compounds and amine precursors are useful as ligands for transition metals and as organocatalysts in e.g., aldol reactions.

An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmitter that includes an encoder, an interleaver, a symbol processor; and a transmission module; wherein the encoder is configured to encode a superframe to provide an encoded superframe; wherein the encoded superframe comprises a sequence of encoded frames; wherein the interleaver is configured to allocate multiple frequency sub-bands to each encoded frame of the encoded superframe by assigning adjacent frequency sub-bands to successive symbols of each encoded frame; wherein the symbol processor is configured to generate, for each encoded frame and according to the assignment of the multiple frequency sub-bands, an intermediate set of symbols; and wherein the transmission module is configured to transmit simultaneously, for each encoded frame, OFDM symbols that represents the intermediate set of symbols.
