Abstract: An apparatus includes a flow cell body, a plurality of electrodes, an integrated circuit, and an imaging assembly. The flow cell body defines one or more flow channels and a plurality of wells. Each flow channel is configured to receive a flow of fluid. Each well is fluidically coupled with the corresponding flow channel. Each well is configured to contain at least one polynucleotide. Each electrode is positioned in a corresponding well of the plurality of wells. The electrodes are operable to effect writing of polynucleotides in the corresponding wells. The integrated circuit is operable to drive selective deposition or activation of selected nucleotides to attach to polynucleotides in the wells to thereby generate polynucleotides representing machine-written data in the wells. The imaging assembly is operable to capture images indicative of one or more nucleotides in a polynucleotide.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a flow cell body, a plurality of electrodes, an integrated circuit, and an imaging assembly. The flow cell body defines one or more flow channels and a plurality of wells. Each flow channel is configured to receive a flow of fluid. Abstract: An apparatus includes a flow cell body, a plurality of electrodes, an imaging assembly, and one or more barrier features. The flow cell body defines one or more flow channels and a plurality of wells defined as recesses in the floor of each flow channel. Each well is fluidically coupled with the corresponding flow channel. The flow cell body further defines interstitial surfaces between adjacent wells. Each well defines a corresponding depth. Each electrode is positioned in a corresponding well of the plurality of wells. The electrodes are to effect writing of polynucleotides in the wells. The imaging assembly is to capture images of polynucleotides written in the wells. The one or more barrier features are positioned in the wells, between the wells, or above the wells. The one or more barrier features contain reactions in each well, reduce diffusion between the wells, or reduce optical cross-talk between the wells.

Abstract: Provided herein include various examples of an apparatus, a sensor system and examples of a method for manufacturing aspects of an apparatus, a sensor system. The method may include forming bumps on a surface of one or more electrical contacts, where the one or more electrical contacts are accessible on an upper surface of a die, where the die is oriented on a substrate, and where the electrical contacts comprise bonding pads. The method may also include coupling one or more additional electrical contacts to the one or more electrical contacts, where the coupling comprises wire-bonding each additional electrical contact of the additional electrical contacts to one of the one or more electrical contacts accessible on the upper surface of the die, via a portion of the bumps on the surface of the one or more electrical contacts, thereby forming wire-bonded connections.

Abstract: In an example of a method for making a flow cell, a sacrificial layer is deposited over a substrate including depressions separated by interstitial regions. The sacrificial layer is dry etched from the depressions, and the sacrificial layer remains on the interstitial regions. A functionalized layer is deposited over the depressions and over the sacrificial layer. The sacrificial layer is removed from the interstitial regions, which also removes the functionalized layer that overlies the interstitial regions.

Abstract: An example of a nanopore sensing system includes an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) sensor mounted on a printed circuit board having an electrical interface with the ASIC sensor; and a nanopore sequencer formed on the ASIC sensor. Abstract: Provided herein are various examples of aspects of a biosensor and methods for manufacturing and using aspects of a biosensor. The method of manufacturing may include forming a germanium layer above a surface of an image sensor and forming a dielectric stack above a surface of the germanium layer. The biosensor can be utilized by placing nucleic acid(s) in reaction sites of the biosensor, exposing the reaction sites to light from a light source (e.g., excitation light), receiving emitted light from the reaction sites via the germanium layer, and identifying, based on the emitted light, a composition of the one or more nucleic acids.
