An apparatus, for a thermal vacuum therapy by using a suction cup on a skin of a patient, includes a heating unit disposed in the suction cup. The heating unit includes a heat core made of high heat conductive material and a heat retention sleeve made of low heat conductive material, wherein the heat core is wrapped by the heat retention sleeve and is arranged in such a manner that after the heat core rapidly stores heat energy, the heat retention sleeve is adapted for keeping the heat energy at the heat core so as to enable the heat core being gradually released heat within the suction cup during cupping treatment.
Abstract:
A dual-ended applicator is provided. The applicator includes a handle, a first roller having a broad concave surface at one end of the handle, and a second, ball-like roller having a convex surface, at the opposite end of the handle. The first roller, having a greater axial length and surface area than does the second roller is intended for applying a cosmetic to broader convex areas of the skin. The second roller, having a lesser axial dimension and surface area as compared with the first roller is intended for distributing a cosmetic to the narrower, concave areas of the skin. The first roller is mounted on the applicator so as to rotate about a fixed axis lateral to the longitudinal axis of the applicator, and will move in straight paths along the skin, in line with the longitudinal axis of the applicator. The second, ball-like roller is mounted on the applicator so as to travel along both straight and curved paths, automatically adjusting between positions as the applicator is moved along the skin surface.

A sensation output device can include a processor adapted to generate one or more control signals corresponding to a haptic command, an actuator adapted to output a force to a drive mechanism in response to one or more control signals received from the processor, an opening through which a portion of a user's body can be inserted, and an interface surface coupled to the drive mechanism, the interface surface configured to at least partially contact the inserted portion of the user's body. Further, the interface surface can be a compliant belt having surface features that is coupled with a carrier belt that is in contact with the drive mechanism. Additionally, the sensation output device can include a memory storing an algorithm including one or more haptic commands, which can be executed by the processor.

A patient interface kit for a system for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or circulatory support to a patient, the system including a control unit, the kit including an inflatable abdominal cuff adapted to extend over a patient's abdomen and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the abdominal cuff in position for use on a patient; an inflatable chest cuff adapted to extend over a patient's chest and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the chest cuff in position for use on a patient; a patient platform or backboard configured for disposition against the patient's back during use; and a cuff prepositioning system configured to secure the chest and abdomen compression cuffs to the patient platform in a ready position and to facilitate rapid deployment of the cuffs for use on the patient.

A therapeutic prosthetic device for women or men configured to transmit tactile sensations through a stimulation material to the surface of a sex organ such as the vagina or penis. The therapeutic prosthetic device can include sensors and stimulators on the outer surface and inner surface and a controller. Sensors for detecting state, sensation or movement can be disposed within, on, or separate from the device and can transmit signals electrically or wirelessly to a microprocessor, which is programmed to generate stimulation sensations in response to signals from the sensors, stimulation materials, or controllers that are transmitted to the stimulation material. In one embodiment the therapeutic prosthetic device is a therapeutic condom.
Abstract:
A patient seeking complementary and alternative medicine must visit a practitioner which is not always convenient or possible. It would be beneficial to provide a patient with a simple means of deriving benefit from such physical CAM techniques in a non-intimidating manner whereby the means has familiarity associated with it. Even with conventional medicine children, infants, toddlers, and babies require medical treatment and experience fear and/or anxiety arising from visiting the medical practitioner or with the treatment. According to embodiments of the invention provide patients are provided means to exploit CAM techniques away from the practitioner or allow patients to not associate activities with a medical treatment but another activity, such as playing in the instance of a child. Variations of the means allow medical monitoring activities to be similarly associated with familiar objects and non-traumatic activities.
Abstract:
A method is provided for resuscitating a patient from cardiac arrest. This may be done by (a) performing chest compressions for a first period of time at a depth of between about 1.5 to about 3 inches, and (b) ceasing chest compressions for a second period of time. Steps (a) and (b) may be repeated at least two times in order to prevent reperfusion injury after cardiac arrest.

The motor is activated when both switches are on.

A dermatological skin treatment device is provided. The device comprises a handpiece and a cutting tool, wherein the tool is inserted through the conduit and percutaneously inserted into a tissue disposed within a recessed area of the handpiece. The device and method cut the fibrous structures under the skin that cause cellulite at an angle substantially parallel to the surface of the skin and replace these structures with a non-cellulite forming structure by deploying a highly fibrous mesh through a single needle hole to create a highly fibrous layer directly or through wound healing processes.
