摘要: A warning system warns a driver of a vehicle that a vehicle location in a record of previously detected drive operation that indicates a violation of a safety standard and a current position of the vehicle are determined to be within a predetermined distance from each other based on repeated detections of a current vehicle position by a detector and a detection of the drive operation that indicates the violation of the safety standard transmitted through an interface from a drive recorder. In this manner, the warning system for warning the driver lightens a process load of a unit that performs a position detection process and a unit that performs a record keeping process.

摘要: A plurality of configurations is simultaneously formed in a material by a single laser beam having a desired distribution pattern of wavelengths. An input laser beam has an initial wavelength distribution pattern. The initial wavelength distribution pattern is adjusted or modified into a desired final wavelength distribution pattern. For example, the initial wavelength distribution pattern is a wide range of wavelengths in a single bell-curve distribution while the desired final wavelength distribution pattern has a specific number of sharp peaks each over a predetermined narrow range. The laser beam having the desired final wavelength distribution pattern is focused upon on a material. Because of the multiple peaks in the wavelength distribution, the laser beam is focused at a plurality of the focal distances. A number of structures is simultaneously formed in a material at the multiple focal points or at multiple locations/depths when the above laser beam is projected onto the material.

摘要: A laser processing method where laser beam for processing is irradiated on a processing object and the laser beam for processing directly removes a part of the processing object. The processing object is made of a glass substrate, metal thin film having high absorption to laser beam for processing is formed on a surface of glass substrate, into which laser beam for processing is made incident, the laser beam for processing is irradiated from a surface of metal thin film, and matter is directly removed by irradiation of laser beam onto the processing object in order to form a region finer than an irradiation region of laser beam for processing on the processing object.

摘要: A guided-wave circuit module includes a guided-wave circuit chip having an input waveguide part and an output waveguide part at the ends thereof, a guided-wave circuit part having a predetermined function and positioned between the input waveguide part and the output waveguide part; and a holder for supporting the guided-wave circuit chip, wherein the guided-wave circuit part of the guided-wave circuit chip does not come in contact with the chip holder; at least part of the input and output waveguide parts of the guided-wave circuit chip is fixed to the holder with a fixing agent; and the packaged chip does not have a warp which leads to deterioration of characteristics. A fixing agent having a high hardness is applied to the periphery of the endfaces of the input and output waveguide parts of the guided-wave circuit module and to the periphery of the fiber endfaces of the optical fiber array connected to the module. Therefore, these endfaces can accurately be polished and the waveguide can be connected to the optical fibers at a sufficiently low fiber connection loss and a high return loss.

摘要: A hybrid optical integrated circuit having a high-silica glass optical waveguide formed on a silicon substrate, an optical fiber and an optical device coupled optically to the optical waveguide, and an optical fiber guide and an optical device guide on the substrate for aligning the optical fiber and the optical device at predetermining positions, respectively, relative to the optical waveguide. Islands carrying electrical conductors are disposed on the substrate. A first electrical conductor film is formed on the substrate. Second electrical conductor films are formed on the top surfaces of the optical waveguide, the optical fiber guide, the optical device guide and the islands and are electrically isolated from the first electrical conductor film. An electrical conductor member is provided to feed electric power from the first and second electric conductor films to the optical device which needs the power supply. The optical waveguide, the optical fiber guide, the optical device guide and the islands are formed from the same high-silica glass optical waveguide film. Alignment of various portions is facilitated when assembling the circuit. A high coupling efficiency is realized with a low cost.
