    Abstract: Methods and mobile devices for providing various eco-friendly User Interfaces (UIs) are provided. In one method for providing the eco-friendly UI, the mobile device measures a recharging amount or time, displays the recharging amount or time, and determines whether the recharging amount or time is more than a predefined critical amount or time. If the recharging amount or time is more than the critical amount or time, the mobile device is transitioned into an executable state of a specific application. This may give a user motivation to use a solar charge system and thereby reduce battery consumption of the mobile device.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting phosphorus in soil and vegetation are developed. In one embodiment, a portable Raman-based sensor is provided to obtain significant phosphorus absorption band in soils and to determine phosphorus concentrations. The portable sensor can have the capability to measure phosphorus concentrations in wet and dry soil samples as well as fresh and dry vegetations. In one embodiment, the portable sensor of the invention uses a 600 mW laser light source at 785 nm with a full width at half maximum of about 0.2 nm and a spectrometer that covers 340 and 3640 cm−1. Software, written in Visual C++, and partial least squares analysis were used to produce calibration and predictions models.

    Abstract: A method of controlling an over-load cooling operation of an air conditioner includes over-load operation mode in which, when an outdoor pipe temperature and an outdoor temperature exceeds reference temperatures, respectively, the operation capacity is changed to a low-level operation capacity, which is lower than the current operation capacity, the low-level operation capacity being one of plural operation capacities set according to the operation capacities of compressors, and the operation is performed, and normal operation mode in which the outdoor pipe temperature is measured every predetermined period of time after the operation is performed in the over-load operation mode, and, when the measured outdoor pipe temperature is below the reference temperature, the operation is performed according to a signal from a thermostat. The continuous cooling operation is possible even under the over-load condition during the cooling operation of the air conditioner, and the air conditioner system is protected through the variable-capacity operation. Consequently, the present invention has the effect of improving user comfort and improving operational reliability of the air conditioner.
