Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel polymeric compositions based upon An(BCB)An polyester/polyether multi-blocks. Compositions according to the present invention exhibit unexpectedly exceptional reverse thermal gellation properties and in certain cases, relatively low viscosities at approximately room temperature and extremely high viscosities at temperatures above room temperature (preferably at approximately physiological or body temperature, i.e., within a temperature range of about 32-40° C.). Compositions according to the present invention may be used advantageously in applications which make use of their reverse thermal gellation properties. Preferred applications for use of the present compositions include, for example, medical applications which make advantageous use of the inherent composition characteristic of being of relatively low viscosity at room temperature and much higher viscosity at elevated temperatures, especially body temperature.

Fuel management system for enhanced operation of a spark ignition gasoline engine. Injectors inject an anti-knock agent such as ethanol directly into a cylinder. It is preferred that the direct injection occur after the inlet valve is closed. It is also preferred that stoichiometric operation with a three way catalyst be used to minimize emissions. In addition, it is also preferred that the anti-knock agents have a heat of vaporization per unit of combustion energy that is at least three times that of gasoline.

Fuel management system for efficient operation of a spark ignition gasoline engine. Injectors inject an anti-knock agent such as ethanol directly into a cylinder of the engine. A fuel management microprocessor system controls injection of the anti-knock agent so as to control knock and minimize that amount of the anti-knock agent that is used in a drive cycle. It is preferred that the anti-knock agent is ethanol. The use of ethanol can be further minimized by injection in a non-uniform manner within a cylinder. The ethanol injection suppresses knock so that higher compression ratio and/or engine downsizing from increased turbocharging or supercharging can be used to increase the efficiency of the engine.

Fuel tank system for a direct ethanol injection octane boosted gasoline engine. The system includes a gasoline engine and a main fuel tank that contains a mix of gasoline and gasoline E85. A smaller secondary tank is provided to contain ethanol or E85. An injector directly injects in a separately controlled fashion ethanol or E85 into a cylinder of the engine to boost octane. A control module controls the relative amounts of gasoline and ethanol used and structure is provided for fueling the main and secondary fuel tanks.

Pollution control apparatus. An exhaust aftertreatment unit is fitted to the exhaust of an internal combustion engine and a fuel reformer provides hydrogen rich gas in an optimal way to the aftertreatment unit to regenerate the aftertreatment unit. It is preferred that the hydrogen rich gas be provided only to a portion of the aftertreatment unit at any time to regenerate that portion. Stored hydrogen may be used.

The present invention relates to a method for reducing adhesions associated with post-operative surgery. The present method comprises administering or affixing a polymeric composition preferably comprising chain extended, coupled or crosslinked polyester/poly(oxyalkylene) ABA triblocks or AB diblocks having favorable EO/LA ratios to a site in the body which has been subjected to trauma, e.g. by surgery, excision or inflammatory disease. In the present invention, the polymeric material provides a barrier to prevent or reduce the extent of adhesions forming.

Techniques for mitigating interference between coexisting Bluetooth baseband processing circuitry and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) baseband processing circuitry are disclosed. In some implementations, an oscillator control circuit may determine a first operating frequency associated with the WLAN baseband processing circuitry. The oscillator control circuit may determine a second operating frequency associated with the Bluetooth baseband processing circuitry. The oscillator control circuit may detect overlap between the first operating frequency and the second operating frequency. The oscillator control circuit may adjust an oscillator sideband for an oscillator of the Bluetooth baseband processing circuitry based on the detected overlap to mitigate interference between signals generated by the oscillator of the Bluetooth baseband processing circuitry and the first operating frequency associated with the WLAN baseband processing circuitry.

The apparatus includes an input; an output; and processing circuitry connected to the input and to the output, the processing circuitry to implement logic to: receive, through the input and from a first modem of the wireless system, information on a traffic attribute relating to communication in compliance with a first wireless communication protocol; determine, based on the traffic attribute, blacklisted channels to be avoided during a discovery procedure by a second modem of the wireless system, the discovery being in compliance with a second wireless communication protocol; and send, through the output, information based on the blacklisted channels to the second modem to cause the second modem to avoid the blacklisted channels during the discovery procedure.
