A method is provided for manufacturing a battery having a case where the sites to which high stresses are applied are strongly welded. The case has a closed bottom and an opened top. The cross section of a peripheral wall of the case defining the opened top is substantially polygon, and a thickness of the peripheral wall is thick at middle portion and thin at distal end portions of a side that is longest among sides defining the polygon. The method includes steps of contacting a seal plate against a top surface of the peripheral wall of the case to close the opened top of the case, and scanning and radiating an energy beam along the contacting line between the peripheral wall of the case and the seal plate continuously. The energy beam having large energy is radiated at a position where the peripheral wall is thick and the energy beam having small energy is radiated at positions where the peripheral wall is thin.

A detector device is provided to produces a detection signal when the input device switches between the active state and the inactive state. A control device responds to the detection signal when the input device switches to the active state for controlling the sound device to change at least one of the tone generating channels from the normal setting to alternative setting effective to admit and process the external waveform data inputted from the input device so as to generate an additional sound so that the sound device can generate mixture of the musical sound and the additional sound. Otherwise, the control device responds to the detection signal when the input device switches to the inactive state for controlling the sound device to restore that one tone generating channel from the alternative setting to the normal setting so that the sound device generates the musical sound alone.

Disclosed herein is a thermoplastic resin composition which comprises:(a) a polyphenylene ether resin or a polyphenylene ether-containing resin composition,(b) a polypropylene grafted with a styrene-based monomer and/or a propylene copolymer grafted with a styrene-based monomer,(c) an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer grafted with a styrene-based monomer, said ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer having a density of 0.85-0.91 g/cm.sup.3 and a maximum melting peak temperature of 100.degree. C. and above measured with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and(d) optionally, rubbery substance. Also disclosed herein is a process for producing a thermoplastic resin composition which comprises incorporating a preblend composed of:(a') a polyphenylene ether resin or a polyphenylene ether-containing resin composition,(b') a polypropylene and/or a propylene copolymer,(c') an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer having a density of 0.85-0.91 g/cm.sup.3 and a maximum melting peak temperature of 100.degree. C. and above measured with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and(d') optionally, a rubbery substancewith a styrene-based monomer and an organic peroxide, followed by kneading with heating. The thermoplastic resin composition has good moldability and yields molded articles having well-balanced physical properties.

The present invention provides a thermoplastic resin composition which is improved in compatibility between polyphenylene ether and polyamide and is excellent in processability and impact strength. This resin composition comprises:100 parts by weight of a composition comprising(A) 5-95% by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin and(B) 95-5% by weight of a polyamide and0.01-10 parts by weight, based on said composition comprising (A) and (B), of (D) a compound comprising dinitrodiamine represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X represents a divalent chain aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group which may contain halogen or oxygen, R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a chain aliphatic group, a cycloaliphatic group or an aromatic group and when X and R.sup.1 are both chain aliphatic groups, the nitrogen atoms may further link to each other through R.sup.1 ; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-12 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may link to each other to form a ring. Preferably this composition further contains a rubber-like polymer for remarkably increasing impact strength.
