    摘要: A file is transferred directly between a parent magnetic-disk device and a child magnetic-disk device. In one embodiment, a parent magnetic-disk device has a host-mode execution program, whereas a child magnetic-disk device is capable operating in a device mode as is the case with an ordinary magnetic-disk device. The parent magnetic-disk device has an operating-mode-setting unit including a special-purpose jumper block. An MPU employed in the parent magnetic-disk device executes the host-mode execution program to put the parent magnetic-disk device in a host mode. At an activation time, the MPU refers to the logic of the special jumper block to start an operation in the host mode. The MPU controls the parent magnetic-disk device to directly transfer a file to the child magnetic-disk device. Thus, the file can be transferred between the parent and child magnetic-disk devices without intervention by a host computer.

    摘要: A magnetic recording disk drive uses a disk having pre-patterned servo sectors extending generally radially across the data tracks. The servo sectors include at least two position error signal (PES) bursts or fields. The phases of the PES fields in the servo readback signal are demodulated to generate a PES to control the disk drive actuator for positioning the read/write heads. Each field contains generally radially directed magnetized stripes, with each stripe comprising a plurality of discrete radially-spaced generally parallelogram-shaped islands, each island having its length oriented at an acute angle relative to a track centerline. The stripes have alternating polarity of magnetizations in the along-the-track direction. In one implementation there are four fields: a first pair of fields A and B wherein the pattern of the radial stripes in field A is the mirror image about a radial line of the pattern of the radial stripes in field B, and a second like pair of fields C and D, but wherein the radial stripes in fields C and D are shifted radially from the radial stripes in fields A and B.

    摘要: An electric golf cart that repeatedly travels around a given course of golf links is powered by a driving motor supplied with electric power from a driving battery. The electric golf cart is provided with a travel distance integrating unit, a memory, a battery charge and discharge integrating unit, and a discharge-per-course calculating unit. Mapping data is stored in the memory, which mapping data defines the relationship between the distance that the electric golf cart travels and the number of rounds that the electric golf cart has traveled. The number of rounds that the electric golf cart has traveled is calculated by the discharge-per-course calculating unit based on the travel distance obtained by the travel distance integrating unit along with the mapping data. Then, the number of rounds obtained and the discharge calculated by the battery charge and discharge integrating unit are utilized to identify the discharge of the driving battery per course.
