摘要: It is an object of the present invention to prevent an influence of voltage drop due to wiring resistance, trouble in writing of a signal into a pixel, and trouble in gray scales, and provide a display device with higher definition, represented by an EL display device and a liquid crystal display device.In the present invention, a wiring including Cu is provided as an electrode or a wiring used for the display device represented by the EL display device and the liquid crystal display device. Besides, sputtering is performed with a mask to form the wiring including Cu. With such structure, it is possible to reduce the voltage drop and a deadened signal.

摘要: Outside light is received using a light sensor, and in accordance with the outside light intensity, each of a first display mode which expresses multiple gray scales and a second display-y mode which expresses a gray scale smaller in number than that in the first display mode is switched and used. The switching is controlled by a display controller based on data of the outside light intensity. Accordingly, the visibility can be ensured in a wide range of situations, from under a fluorescent lamp in a dark place or inside, to under sunlight outside. In the second display mode, frequencies of a start pulse and a clock pulse to be inputted to a source signal line driver circuit are reduced and a driving voltage is decreased by the display controller; accordingly, a frame period can be longer than that in the first display mode and power consumption can be reduced.

摘要: A display device capable of displaying a picture of vivid colors maintaining a good balance of colors and a good balance of light-emitting brightnesses of the EL elements. The widths of the detour wirings supplying current to the power source feed lines are increased for those EL elements into which a current of a large density flows. This constitution decreases the wiring resistances of the detour wirings, decreases the potential drop through the detour wirings, and suppresses the amount of electric power consumed by the detour wirings.

摘要: A display device according to the present invention includes: a planarization layer for insulating between a gate electrode etc. and a data wiring, a drain electrode, or the like of the transistor; and a barrier layer that is formed on an upper surface or lower surface of the planarization layer and at the same time, adapted to suppress diffusion of moisture or degassing components from the planarization layer. The display device adopts a device structure effective in reducing the plasma damage on the planarization layer by devising a positional relationship between the planarization layer and the barrier layer. Also, in combination with a novel structure as a structure for a pixel electrode, effects such as an increase in luminance can be provided as well.

The light emitting apparatus according to the invention having thin film transistors and light emitting elements, comprises; a second inorganic insulation layer on a gate electrode, a first organic insulation layer on the second inorganic insulation layer, a third inorganic insulation layer on the first organic insulation layer, an anode layer formed on the third inorganic insulation layer, a second organic insulation layer overlapping with the end of the anode layer and having an inclination angle of 35 to 45 degrees, a fourth inorganic insulation layer formed on the upper surface and side surface of the second organic insulation layer and having an opening over the anode layer, an organic compound layer formed in contact with the anode layer and the fourth inorganic insulation layer and containing light emitting material, and a cathode layer formed in contact with the organic compound layer containing the light emitting material, wherein the third inorganic insulation layer and the fourth inorganic insulation layer are formed with silicon nitride or aluminum nitride.

摘要: An object is to provide an oxide semiconductor layer having a novel structure which is preferably used for a semiconductor device. Alternatively, another object is to provide a semiconductor device using an oxide semiconductor layer having the novel structure. An oxide semiconductor layer includes an amorphous region which is mainly amorphous and a crystal region containing crystal grains of In2Ga2ZnO7 in a vicinity of a surface, in which the crystal grains are oriented so that the c-axis is almost vertical with respect to the surface. Alternatively, a semiconductor device uses such an oxide semiconductor layer.

摘要: A semiconductor device including a first element including a photodiode and an amplifier circuit which amplifies output current of the photodiode, over a first insulating film; and a second element including a color filter and an overcoat layer over the color filter over a second insulating film is manufactured. The first element and the second element are attached to each other by bonding the first insulating film and the second insulating film with a bonding material. Further, the amplifier circuit is a current mirror circuit including a thin film transistor. Still further, a color film may be used instead of a color filter.

摘要: It is an object to provide a light-emitting device in which plural kinds of circuits are formed over one substrate and plural kinds of thin film transistors corresponding to characteristics of the plural kinds of circuits are provided. An inverted coplanar thin film transistor in which an oxide semiconductor layer overlaps with a source electrode layer and a drain electrode layer is used for a pixel, and a channel-etched thin film transistor is used for a driver circuit. A color filter layer is provided between the pixel thin film transistor and a light-emitting element which is electrically connected to the pixel thin film transistor so as to overlap with the light-emitting element.

摘要: It is an object of the present invention to connect a wiring, an electrode, or the like formed with two incompatible films (an ITO film and an aluminum film) without increasing the cross-sectional area of the wiring and to achieve lower power consumption even when the screen size becomes larger. The present invention provides a two-layer structure including an upper layer and a lower layer having a larger width than the upper layer. A first conductive layer is formed with Ti or Mo, and a second conductive layer is formed with aluminum (pure aluminum) having low electric resistance over the first conductive layer. A part of the lower layer projected from the end section of the upper layer is bonded with ITO.
