Abstract:
The present disclosure describes compositions comprising an acrylic polymer binder and nano-particles less than about 100 nm that provide a hydrophobic or superhydrophobic coating that may also display oleophobicity. The coating composition may advantageously be prepared using VOC exempt compounds that are compatible with a variety of surface materials including many electronic components. In addition, the coating composition may also be rapidly dried rendering it useful for the rapid preparation of coated objects and surfaces in manufacturing/assembly line environments.
Abstract:
The present inventions relate to the formation of a thin polymer film on a substrate. Apparatus is described for transforming a solid polymer resist into an aerosol of small particles, electrostatically charging and depositing the particles onto a substrate, and flowing the particles into a continuous layer. Apparatus is further described for transforming solid resist into an aerosol of small particles by heating the resist to form a low viscosity liquid such as is compatible with nebulization and applying the techniques of jet or impact nebulization and aerosol particle sizing to form the aerosol. A method is further described of using ionized gas to confer charge onto the aerosol particles and using a progression of charging devices establish an electric field directing the flow of charged particles to the substrate. The progression of charging devices and associated apparatus results in high collection efficiency for the aerosol particles.

Then, resin powder is downwardly sprayed from a nozzle of a coating device to each corresponding one of the workpieces, which are conveyed by the conveying device. The workpieces are thereafter heated by a heating and curing coil. At each of the heating coils, a dummy member, which is made of an electrically conductive material, is displaced from a retracted position to a forward position, which is located between the corresponding heating coil and a corresponding adjacent part of the conveying path of the conveying device, when an empty one of mount locations of the conveying device reaches the forward position of the dummy member.

A method of manufacturing a ferroelectric thin film on a lower electrode by electrostatically spraying a ferroelectric thin film-forming electrostatic spray solution so as to coat the electrostatic spray solution on the lower electrode and form a coated film, drying, calcining, and then firing the coated film so as to crystallize the coated film. In this method, the electrostatic spray solution is a mixed solution in which a ferroelectric thin film-forming sol-gel solution and powder having the same composition as the solid content of the sol-gel solution and having a particle diameter that can be ejected from the spout are uniformly mixed, and, when the metallic compound-converted mass of a metallic compound dissolved in the sol-gel solution is represented by A and the mass of the powder is represented by B, a ratio of B with respect to (A+B) is in a range of 5% to 40%.

Provided herein is a method of providing a powder coated wood product. The method involves impregnating a wood member with a chemical to provide a chemicallymodified wood member; heating and charging the chemically modified wood member; applying a powder coating to the heated and charged chemically modified wood member; and at least partially curing the powder coating to provide the powder-coated wood product. The resulting powder-coated wood product is highly durable.
Abstract:
A powder hopper is provided with a low turbulence zone for supplying powder to a spray gun. The low turbulence zone is defined by a baffle inside the hopper with the low turbulence zone being within a volume of the baffle, and an annular zone between the baffle and the hopper is used to bulk feed powder into the hopper. The low turbulence zone may alternatively be in the annular zone with powder added to the volume of the baffle. One preferred application for this hopper is in connection with the use of fine powder coating materials to coat the interior of small diameter cans.

Provided is a method for the highly efficient formation of a uniform, high-quality film with which increased line speed, improved productivity, and cost reduction can be envisaged. A method for forming a rustproof film on a PC strand, wherein a PC stranded (1) is untwisted to separate surrounding wires (1b) from a core wire (1a), a synthetic resin powdered coating material is uniformly adhered by being applied and heated over the outer periphery of the core wire and surrounding wires in this untwisted state, the product is cooled to form a resin film (26), and then the surrounding wires are twisted back to the original state with respect to the core wire. Pre-heating is performed before the coating step and post-heating is performed after the coating step, the pre-heating temperature is set 30 to 130° C. higher than the post-heating temperature, a synthetic resin powdered coating material having an average grain size of 40 to 50 μm is used, and the process line speed is 5 to 10 m/min.
