Abstract: Disclosed is a CO2 concentration reducing device for separating and removing CO2 from a gas containing CO2 with a CO2 adsorbent, the CO2 concentration reducing device including: an adsorbent container which contains the CO2 adsorbent; and a heating unit which heats the CO2 adsorbent by an induction heating or a dielectric heating. Thus, a ventilation quantity can be reduced when CO2 accumulated in a room is removed, and an electric power required for the ventilation and the electric power required for air conditioning can be reduced.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing activated carbon may include preparing activated carbon precursors, carbonizing the activated carbon precursors by performing a heat treatment on the carbon precursors, equalizing the activated carbon precursors carbonized in the carbonizing, by grinding the activated carbon precursors, and activating the activated carbon precursors by introducing a mixture gas including carbon dioxide and steam into the ground activated carbon precursors and performing a heat treatment on the activated carbon precursors.

Abstract: A method for preparing a meso crystal of silver oxide containing silver peroxide is provided. A quantum crystal of silver thiosulfate complex on a substrate or a particle made of copper metal or copper alloy is subjected to treating by an alkaline aqueous solution containing halogen ion to obtain a meso crystal of silver oxide containing the silver peroxide. The meso crystal of silver oxide having nanometer scale, containing a silver peroxide, the silver oxide nanocrystal being a superstructure three-dimensionally arranged in the shape of a neuron provided with properties being negatively charged in water and able to be reduced to a silver nanoparticle by a laser radiation.

Abstract: A catalyst system comprising a combination of: 1) one or more catalyst compounds comprising at least one nitrogen linkage; 2) a support comprising an organosilica material, which is a mesoporous organosilica material; and 3) an optional activator. Useful catalysts include pyridyldiamido transition metal complexes, HN5 compounds, and bis(imino)pyridyl complexes. The organosilica material is a polymer of at least one monomer of Formula [Z1OZ2SiCH2]3(1), where Z1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and Z2 represents a hydroxyl group, a C1-C4alkoxy group, a C1-C6 alkyl group, or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer. This invention further relates to processes to polymerize olefins comprising contacting one or more olefins with the above catalyst system.

Abstract: Industrial waste derived adsorbents were obtained by pyrolysis of sewage sludge, metal sludge, waste oil sludge and tobacco waste in some combination. The materials were used as media to remove hydrogen sulfide at room temperature in the presence of moisture. The initial and exhausted adsorbents after the breakthrough tests were characterized using sorption of nitrogen, thermal analysis, XRD, ICP, and surface pH measurements. Mixing tobacco and sludges result in a strong synergy enhancing the catalytic properties of adsorbents. During pyrolysis new mineral phases are formed as a result of solid state reaction between the components of the sludges. High temperature of pyrolysis is beneficial for the adsorbents due to the enhanced activation of carbonaceous phase and chemical stabilization of inorganic phase. Samples obtained at low temperature are sensitive to water, which deactivates their catalytic centers.

Abstract: A liquid filter article, including: a housing having an inlet, an outlet, and an adsorbent bed there between, the bed comprising: a first stage having a first adsorbent, the first adsorbent including an activated carbon honeycomb infused with a plurality of zero valent iron nanoparticles (“Fe-AC”); and a second stage having a second adsorbent, the second adsorbent being selected from iron oxide particles supported on activated carbon honeycomb (“FEOX-AC”), iron oxide particles supported on activated alumina honeycomb (“FeOX-AA”), or a combination thereof, wherein the first stage is in fluid communication with the second stage. Also disclosed is a method of using the liquid filter article to remediate heavy metals in water.
