Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a low sulfur, low sulfated ash and low phosphorus lubricating oil composition for low emission heavy duty diesel engines comprising (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and (b) at least 5 weight percent of an anti-wear additive composition comprising a metal salt of a Mannich condensation product based on the total weight of the lubricating oil. The present invention is also directed to a low sulfur, low sulfated ash and low phosphorus lubricating oil concentrate comprising (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity and (b) at least 5 weight percent of an anti-wear additive composition comprising a metal salt of a Mannich condensation product based on the total weight of the lubricating oil.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method (and a corresponding system) of creating a cylinder oil, the method comprising modification of at least one initial fluid (101) by determining the TBN(s) of the at least one initial fluid, determining a desired TBN of a cylinder oil (102) and adjusting the TBN(s) of the at least one initial fluid (101) accordingly by blending the at least one initial fluid (101) with suited additive(s) (103). In this way, a method (and system) for modifying initial fluid(s) to create a cylinder oil by adjusting TBN is obtained. This provides significant economical benefits since lubricants that otherwise would have to be disposed of can be re-used as a total-loss cylinder lubricant. Further cylinder oil does not have to be purchased. The oil(s) used to blend the cylinder oil is/are of more consistent quality as it is replenished contrary to the traditional practice which reduces machinery wear, etc. Thus, the replenishment of the initial fluid(s) provides enhanced and consistent performance of the initial fluids resulting in greatly reduced component wear and equipment lifecycle cost. Even further, a more environmentally friendly method/system is provided since waste, in the form of spent oil(s) that is discarded after prolonged use, is reduced as it is converted into a cylinder oil.

A power transmission fluid composition for extreme pressure applications. The power transmission fluid includes a base oil, and an additive composition containing an extreme pressure performance improving amount of an ester of phosphonic acid of the formula: where R1 is a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen and a hydrocarbyl group containing from about 1 to about 8 carbon atoms, provided that no more than one of R2 and R3 is hydrogen, a succinimide dispersant, and, optionally, a metal-based detergent. The optional detergent is substantially devoid of calcium cations.
Abstract:

Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.
