    摘要: Novel compositions of matter include: mixed oxides of (a) at least one oxide of chromium, at least one oxide of manganese and at least one oxide of magnesium, Lanthanum Series Metals, preferably lanthanum and cerium, and/or niobium; (b) at least one oxide of chromium, at least one oxide of calcium, strontium, tin and/or antimony, at least one oxide of manganese and at least one oxide of magnesium, Lanthanum Series metals and/or niobium; (c) at least one oxide of chromium, at least one oxide of iron and at least one oxide of magnesium, Lanthanum Series metals and/or niobium; and (d) at least one oxide of chromium, at least one oxide of iron, at least one oxide of manganese and at least one oxide of magnesium, Lanthanum Series metals and/or niobium. These compositions are particularly effective as catalyst compositions for the conversion of C.sub.3 and C.sub.4 hydrocarbons to less saturated hydrocarbons, with high selectivities to ethylene and ethane and particularly ethylene, and the addition of the chromium significantly extends the activity of the catalyst for such selective conversion before regeneration is necessary. A method of converting C.sub.3 and C.sub.4 hydrocarbons to less saturated hydrocarbons, and selectively to ethylene and ethane and particularly ethylene, is also disclosed. Carrying out the process in the presence of steam is essential to the process when the catalyst contains iron and is optional when the catalyst does not contain iron. Limiting the amount of bound or fixed sulfur in the catalyst also improves the catalyst.

    摘要: A method of selectively cracking C.sub.3 and C.sub.4 hydrocarbons to C.sub.2 hydrocarbons, particularly ethylene, in which a body of cracking catalyst is established in a reaction zone and the feed hydrocarbons are passed through the body of catalyst while maintaining the conditions sufficient to convert the feed hydrocarbons to product hydrocarbons, including, a temperature in the upstream end of the body of catalyst at least about 100.degree. C. below the temperature in the downstream end of the body of catalyst. The cracking catalyst is preferably selected from the group consisting of: at least one oxide of manganese and at least one oxide of magnesium; at least one oxide of manganese and at least one oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Lanthanum Series metals, preferably lanthanum or cerium, and niobium; at least one oxide of iron and at least one oxide of magnesium; and at least one oxide of iron and at least one oxide of a Lanthanum Series metals or niobium. The active life of the catalyst, for the selective conversion to C.sub.2 hydrocarbons and particularly ethylene, is extended by adding promoting amounts of oxides of calcium, strontium, barium, tin or antimony or oxides of silicon, aluminum or titanium or chromium to certain of the basic catalysts. Manganese may also be added to the catalysts containing iron oxide. The addition of steam, during the conduct of the process, also extends the active life of the catalyst and may, optionally, be utilized with the catalysts free of oxides of iron and is essential to operation with catalysts containing oxides of iron.

    摘要: There is disclosed a process for the polymerization of butadiene and butadiene in mixture with other conjugated diolefins to form polymers containing at least 90 percent of the butadiene units in the cis-1,4 configuration comprising contacting at least one diolefin under polymerization conditions with a catalyst system comprising (A) at least one compound selected from a group consisting of trialkylaluminum compounds and tetraalkyllithium aluminum compounds (B) at least one compound selected from a group consisting of nickel salts of carboxylic acids, nickel tetracarbonyl and organic complex compounds of nickel selected from a group consisting of bis(alpha-furyl) dioxime nickel, nickel acetylacetonate, bis(salicylaldehyde) ethylene diimine nickel and nickel salicylaldehyde and (C) at least one compound selected from a group consisting of metal fluoroborates, metal fluorophosphates, metal fluoroantimonates and organic derivatives of fluorophosphates and fluoroantimonates wherein the metal is selected from a group consisting of lithium, beryllium, calcium, magnesium, nickel and cobalt.
