Abstract:
The start control procedure of the invention lags an open-close timing VVT of an intake valve, restricts a throttle opening TH of a throttle valve, and starts cranking an engine with a lower torque Tlow. When a pressure Pf of a fuel supplied to in-cylinder fuel injection valves reaches or exceeds a preset reference value, which is greater than a sum of an in-cylinder compression pressure Pin and a closed valve position-retaining pressure Pcv of the in-cylinder fuel injection valves, the start control procedure cranks the engine with a standard cranking torque Tset. The start control procedure then starts advance of the open-close timing VVT of the intake valve, cancels the restriction of the throttle opening TH, and starts fuel injection from the in-cylinder fuel injection valves. This arrangement enables the fuel pressure Pf to quickly rise to or above the sum of the in-cylinder compression pressure Pin and the closed valve position-retaining pressure Pcv, and thereby effectively prevents the in-cylinder fuel injection valves from being inadequately opened.
Abstract:
A generator apparatus can provide generated power fit for a connected battery, and even if a load voltage is not within a suitable range, when the load voltage is a certain level or more, the generator can provide power. A selector 25 selects a target voltage for controlling the output voltage of a rectifier 2. An output controller 34 controls the rectifier 2 according to the target. A load judgment section 35 judges the terminal voltage of a battery 19. When the terminal voltage is within an allowable range with respect to the target value, permission for output is given to the output controller 34. When the load voltage is not within the allowable range, an alarm is raised. Even when the alarm is raised, if a load voltage develops which is not less than a predetermined voltage lower than the allowable range, the battery 19 can be charged by forced-output.

When a control determination is made that an operation of an internal combustion engine should be stopped, a fuel adherence reduction operation for reducing the amount of fuel adhered to a wall surface extending from an intake port to a combustion chamber is executed before stopping fuel supply.

Abstract:
A disposable pull-on diaper includes a liquid-pervious topsheet, a liquid-impervious backsheet and a liquid-absorbent core disposed therebetween. The diaper has a waist-hole and a pair of leg-holes. The diaper is provided on one of a front half or a rear half thereof with at least one elastically stretchable fastening member transversely extending across a longitudinal center line of the diaper, and a hook member which lies on the longitudinal center line to catch the fastening member. The fastening member has transversely opposite end portions secured to the diaper, and a transversely intermediate portion exposed on an outer surface of the backsheet. After use, the used diaper is rolled-up with an outer peripheral surface thereof surrounded by the intermediate portion, and the intermediate portion is caught by the hook to secure the used diaper in the rolled-up state.

An embossed sheet which is excellent in embossing properties, whitening resistance and transparency, can be prepared by using a resin composition containing specific ratios of (A) polypropylene having a specific melting point of 125.degree. C. or higher, (B) ethylene-.alpha.-olefin copolymer having specific properties and (C) random copolymer of aromatic vinyl compound and conjugated diene compound having specific properties. Further, the present invention provides the laminates which is made using the above embossed sheet and the method for producing them.
Abstract:
An apparatus controls power supplied to a heater of an air-fuel-ratio sensor in consideration of the radiant heat from a catalytic converter. A map showing a relationship between power supplied to the heater and engine operating conditions is prepared on the assumption that radiant heat from the converter never affects the temperature of the sensor. Another map showing the same relationship is prepared on the assumption that radiant heat from the converter, which is new, affects the temperature of the sensor. A difference .DELTA.Qij=Q2ij-Q1ij is calculated under the same engine operating conditions, where Q1ij is power supplied to the heater with radiant heat from the converter affecting the temperature of the sensor and Q2ij is power supplied to the heater with radiant heat from the converter not affecting the temperature of the sensor. At the same time, a deterioration index DR of the converter is calculated. The deterioration index DR is used to determine a coefficient .alpha.. The target power Qij supplied to the heater is calculated as Qij=Q2ij-.alpha..times.(Q2ij-Q1ij). Namely, the difference .DELTA.Qij is multiplied by the coefficient .alpha., and the product is subtracted from Q2ij, to provide the target power Qij.
Abstract:
A heater control apparatus for an air-fuel ratio sensor that is capable of supplying optimum power, regardless of the coolant temperature of an internal combustion engine at the engine start-up, is provided. When the internal combustion engine is started, a switching element 122 is continuously held at ON state, to continuously supply power to a heater 112 of the air-fuel ratio sensor 11. The duty cycle of the switching element is controlled so that the heater temperature is maintained at 1100.degree. C., after the heater resistance, which is calculated from the voltage applied to the heater and the current flowing through the heater, has reached a predetermined value, and so that a sensing element 111 is maintained at a temperature of 710.degree. C., after the air-fuel ratio sensor was activated. In performing the control, the power supplied to the heater is increased by adding an auxiliary power calculated as a function of the coolant temperature detected by a coolant temperature sensor 142 and the time elapsed since the engine was started up, thereby preventing an excessive temperature rise of the heater and a delay in the activation of the air-fuel ratio sensor.
Abstract:
