Abstract: An apparatus for processing a hybrid broadcast service, the apparatus comprising a reception module for receiving broadcast signals though a broadcast channel or contents through a broadband channel for the hybrid broadcast service, wherein the broadcast signals include data for the hybrid broadcast service and an EAM (Emergency Alert message) and a processor for receiving a request from a companion device and sending at least one of a content or continuous components or files or data or media timeline information of the EAM (Emergency Alert message) based on the request, wherein the continuous components or the files or the data are a part of the hybrid broadcast service which is currently selected.

Abstract: A broadcast signal receiver includes a demodulator configured to perform Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) demodulation on a received broadcast signal; a frame parser configured to derive service data by parsing a signal frame of the received broadcast signal based on a number of carriers of the signal frame; a decoder configured to perform error correction on the service data; and an output processor configured to receive the service data and output a data stream, wherein the number of carriers of the signal frame is determined by equation: NoC=NoC_max−k*Δ, the NoC being the number of carriers, the NoC_max being maximum number of carriers, the k being a reducing coefficient and the Δ being a control unit value, wherein the k ranges from 0 to 4 and the Δ is 96 for 8K Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), 192 for 16K FFT, 384 for 32K FFT.

The method includes, encoding Data Pipe, DP, data according to a code rate, wherein the encoding further includes Low-Density Parity-Check, LDPC, encoding the DP data, Bit interleaving the LDPC encoded DP data, and mapping the bit interleaved DP data onto constellations; building at least one signal frame by mapping the encoded DP data; and modulating data in the built signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM, method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.
