摘要: A method for welding a stack of sheets having a plurality of sheets of different materials is provided. In an aspect, the stack of sheets includes an aluminum sheet and a galvanneal steel sheet. In an aspect, the method includes resistively spot welding the galvanneal sheet to a hot-stamped steel sheet placed between the aluminum sheet and the galvanneal sheet, the sheet of hot-stamped steel including stress relief sections. The method further includes placing a metal foil on the aluminum sheet and vaporizing the metal foil to project portions of the aluminum sheet through the stress relief sections of the hot-stamped steel sheet to weld the portions of the aluminum sheet to the galvanized steel sheet. In another aspect, the method includes placing the metal foil on a raised portion of the aluminum sheet and projecting the raised portion of the aluminum onto the galvanneal steel sheet.

摘要: A friction-welded ground assembly that includes an alloy substrate with a clearance hole; an aluminum alloy weld nut having a bolt bore and an outer wall; and a grounding bolt. The bore is located substantially within the clearance hole and a portion of the outer wall is joined to the substrate at a friction-welded attachment. Further, the bolt is threaded within the bore. In addition, a method for making a ground includes the steps: rotating an aluminum alloy weld nut having an outer wall at a predetermined speed; lowering the outer wall of the rotating nut into contact with an aluminum alloy substrate to generate a frictional force for a friction time; arresting the rotation of the nut; and applying an axial forging force to the outer wall and the substrate for a forging time.

摘要: A solder pre-form for soldering a coaxial cable to a connector body is provided with a plurality of flux grooves on a cable side and a connector side. The solder pre-form may also have a plurality of holes between the cable and connector sides. In a method of use, flux is applied to the flux grooves and the solder pre-form applied to encircle the outer conductor which is then inserted into the connector body and the solder pre-form melted to complete the solder interconnection. Where holes are present, flux may be applied to the connector side, passing through the holes also to the cable side.

摘要: A ultrasonic welding method of joining dissimilar-material workpieces, such as sheet materials, and the joined components formed thereby. The method includes applying ultrasonic energy to a thermoplastic piece to fill a hole of a dissimilar piece to form a weld point that is made up with polymer from the thermoplastic piece. In general, the geometry of the thermoplastic piece is not altered during the process. The dissimilar piece generally has a higher melting temperate and can be metal, thermoset polymers, or other thermoplastic material. The welded pieces can be arranged in a lap, laminate, or double lap configuration. In some embodiments, the hole of the dissimilar sheet material includes undercut features that improve the mechanical interlock between the dissimilar pieces. In some embodiments, the weld point has a mushroom cap to improve mechanical interlock.
