Abstract:
Compositions useful as lubricants comprising a major proportion of an oleaginous liquid of lubricating viscosity and an additive mixture of(a) a zirconium salt of a carboxylic acid or mixture of carboxylic acids, and(b) at least one oil-soluble sulfur-containing extreme pressure agent containing up to about 25% combined sulfurAre described. Such compositions are useful as extreme pressure lubricants such as gear lubricants adapted for heavy duty service.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a composition containing (A) a bridging agent, (B) a hydrocarbon oil and (C) an organopolysiloxane fluid, in which the organopolysiloxane fluid (C) is immiscible with hydrocarbon oil (B) in the absence of bridging agent (A) and a process for treating organic fibers therewith. The bridging agent is obtained from the reaction of a hydrolyzate of a diorganodihalosilane with a primary, secondary or tertiary alcohol, in which the hydrocarbon group of the alcohol is a saturated or unsaturated branched chain or an unsaturated linear chain and contains from 12 to 28 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Lubricant and fuel compositions characterized by improved demulsifying properties are disclosed, which properties are contributed substantially by an additive comprising a mixture of:(A) One or more reaction products of a hydrocarbon-substituted succinic acid or anhydride with one or more polyalkylene glycols or monoethers thereof,(B) One or more organic basic metal salts, and(C) one or more alkoxylated amines.
Abstract:
Band-ply lubricant concentrates are disclosed which are useful in the preparation of both solvent and water based formulations. Unexpected advantages of greater formulation latitude and product stability have been found. The concentrates consist of (A) an alkylene oxide polymer, (B) unique siloxane copolymer dispersing agents, (C) a polydimethylsiloxane fluid, and in some instances (D) mica or talc.
Abstract:
Sulfurized compositions are prepared by the reaction of unsaturated compounds and a mixture of sulfur and hydrogen sulfide under superatmospheric pressure and in the presence of a catalyst, followed by removal of low boiling materials. They are useful as lubricant additives.

Abstract:
Organic compositions made by reacting an amino compound, carbon disulfide, and a halogenated substantially aliphatic hydrocarbon having at least 25 carbon atoms are useful as additives for lubricants and liquid fuels. Particularly useful are compositions wherein the amino compound is alkylene polyamine and the hydrocarbon is a halogenated polymer or interpolymer of a C.sub.2 to C.sub.6 l-olefin.
