Abstract:
An air motor, a rotary atomizing head provided on a front side of the air motor to be rotatable by the air motor, external electrode units provided in a periphery of the rotary atomizing head, and a high-voltage applying unit that applies a high voltage to the external electrode units to indirectly charge paint particles atomized from the rotary atomizing head with the high voltage. A film cover is provided to be formed with a resin material in a film shape for covering an outer peripheral side of the air motor. The film cover includes a cylindrical rear cover that covers the rear side from the external electrode units and a cylindrical front cover that is mounted to the front side of the rear cover to cover the front side from the external electrode units.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods are directed to applying magnetohydrodynamic forces to liquid metal to eject liquid metal along a controlled pattern, such as a controlled three-dimensional pattern as part of additive manufacturing of an object. Electric current delivered to a meniscus of the liquid metal in a quiescent state can be directed to exert a pullback force on the liquid metal. The pullback force can be sufficient to draw the liquid metal, in the quiescent state, in a direction toward the nozzle to reduce the likelihood of unintended wetting of surfaces of the nozzle between uses of the nozzle.
Abstract:
Devices, systems, and methods are directed to applying magnetohydrodynamic forces to liquid metal to eject liquid metal from a nozzle along a controlled pattern, such as a controlled three-dimensional pattern as part of additive manufacturing of an object. Electrodes used to deliver electric current across a firing chamber of the nozzle are formed of the same material as the liquid metal being ejected from the nozzle. For example, respective interfaces between the electrodes and the liquid metal can be molten material. Forming the electrodes and the liquid metal of the same material can facilitate, for example, ejecting liquid metals having high melt temperatures.

An alternator, such as for use in an electrostatic spray gun, comprises an electromagnetic alternator, a housing and an impeller. The electromagnetic alternator has a shaft. The electromagnetic alternator is disposed within the housing. The housing has an air aperture. The impeller is mounted to the shaft within the housing so as to be aligned with the air aperture. The impeller includes blades having curved leading and trailing edges. In one embodiment, each blade has a curvature so as to be perpendicular to the air aperture across an entire arc over which each impeller blade has a line of sight of the air aperture.

An electrostatic coating apparatus includes a coating gun that sprays a coating material toward a coated matter, a high-voltage application apparatus that applies a high voltage to the coating gun, a bell-side current calculation unit that calculates a bell-side current to flow from the coating gun to the coated matter, an earth-side current measurement unit that measures an earth-side current to flow from the coated matter to the earth, and an earth check unit that detects an abnormal earth state of the coated matter, depending on a magnitude relation between the bell-side current calculated at the time of electrostatic coating and the bell-side current when the earth is properly connected, and a magnitude relation between the earth-side current measured at the time of the electrostatic coating and the earth-side current when the earth is properly connected.

Provided is a resist film forming device which uses an electrostatic spray device which is capable of forming a thin film with a uniform thickness on a workpiece. A resist film forming device (100), which forms a resist film (108) on a substrate by electrostatic spraying, comprises: a nozzle (102) which, upon application of a prescribed voltage, sprays liquid particles which form the raw material for a resist film (108) toward a substrate (105) having stepped portions (105a); a driving means (111) for causing relative movement of the substrate (105) or the nozzle (102); and a control means (110) for controlling such that the resist film (108) is formed on the substrate (105) having the stepped portions (105a) by the liquid particles.
