    摘要: The present invention describes a self mode locking laser and a method for self mode locking a laser. The laser (1) comprises a resonator terminated by first (3) and second (4) mirrors and folded by a third mirror (5). The third mirror comprises a single distributed Bragg reflector (17) upon which is mounted a multilayer semiconductor gain medium (18) and which includes at least one quantum well layer and an optical Kerr lensing layer (22). Self mode locking may be achieved by configuring the laser resonator such that the lensing effect of the Kerr lensing layer acts to reduce an astigmatism deliberately introduced to the cavity mode. The self mode locking of the laser may be further enhanced by selecting the length of the resonator such that a round trip time of a cavity mode is matched with an upper-state lifetime of one or more semiconductor carriers located within the gain medium.

    摘要: Compact high brightness light sources for the mid and far IR spectral region, and exemplary applications are disclosed based on passively mode locked Tm fiber comb lasers. In at least one embodiment the coherence of the comb sources is increased in a system utilizing an amplified single-frequency laser to pump the Tm fiber comb laser. The optical bandwidth generated by the passively mode locked Tm fiber comb laser is further decreased by using simultaneous 2nd and 3rd order dispersion compensation using either appropriate chirped fiber Bragg gratings for dispersion compensation, or fibers with appropriately selected values of 2nd and 3rd order dispersion. Fibers with large anomalous values of third order dispersion, or fibers with large numerical apertures, for example fibers having air-holes formed in the fiber cladding may be utilized.

A laser processing apparatus includes a laser generator, a laser amplifier, a chromatic dispersion tuner and an optical focusing unit. The laser generator is configured to generate ultrashort pulse laser having chirp characteristics by simultaneously generating a plurality of wavelengths. The laser amplifier is configured to amplify the laser generated by the laser generator. The chromatic dispersion tuner is configured to adjust chirp and pulse width of the laser output from the laser amplifier. The optical focusing unit is configured to irradiate a workpiece with the laser after adjusting the depth of focus of the laser with the chirp and the pulse width adjusted by the chromatic dispersion tuner.

    摘要: Disclosed is a high power ultra-short pulsed laser device increasing pulse energy by using resonators. A pulsed laser device may comprise a first resonator making a pump beam resonate primarily and passing the pump beam which resonated through a first output mirror; and a second resonator comprising a first multiple reflection mirror and a second multiple reflection mirror. Also, the first multiple reflection mirror includes at least one first small area mirror, and the second multiple reflection mirror includes at least one second small area mirror, and the second resonator makes the laser beam delivered from the first resonator resonate by reflecting the laser beam repetitively. Therefore, the pulsed laser device may increase pulse energy without using a multi-stage amplifier so that a high power ultra-short pulsed laser beam can be generated.
