Abstract:
A method of converting text to speech in a communication device includes providing a code table containing coded speech parameters. Next steps include inputting a text message into a communication device, and dividing the text message into phonics. A next step includes mapping each of the phonics against the code table to find the coded speech parameters corresponding to each of the phonics. A next step includes processing the coded speech parameters corresponding to each of the phonics to provide an audio signal. In this way, text can be mapped directly to a vocoder table without intermediate translation steps.
Abstract:
Multilevel converters and space vector modulation operating methods are presented in which fewer than all possible switching states are employed for space vector modulation of rectifier and inverter circuits to promote common mode voltage contribution cancellation or reduction therebetween and by using subsets of possible space vector modulation switching states associated with minimal positive or negative common mode voltages and in some cases using virtual vectors which have zero common mode voltages to eliminate the 3rd order harmonic components in common mode voltage as well as to reduce common mode voltage affects associated with multilevel inverter stages.

Abstract:
A system comprising low cost topology for power converter systems is provided. The system takes advantage of the voltage-boost characteristic of a current source inverter (CSI) and utilizes a PWM CSI as a grid-side converter for power generation systems. Moreover, the generator-side converter employs low-cost devices, such as, but not limited to diode bridge, thyristor bridge, and/or a combination of diodes and thyristors, and accordingly simplifies generator-side converter and control. Further, the system provides a wider range of operation than traditional voltage source converter based topologies that utilize a voltage source inverter (VSI) as the grid-side convertor along with a diode rectifier as the generator-side converter.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus controls power consumption of at least one processor core by generating dynamic voltage and clock frequency scaling control information based on stochastic controller control parameters and workload performance error data. A processor core's voltage and clock frequency is varied based on the generated dynamic voltage and clock frequency scaling control information. In one example, a stochastic controller, is coupled to a dynamic voltage and clock frequency scaling (DVFS) circuit. The stochastic controller uses the stochastic controller control parameters and workload performance error data and generates the dynamic voltage and clock frequency scaling control information to control the DVFS circuit. Related methods are also disclosed.

A method to determine a preferred operating point for an internal combustion engine includes determining a current set of candidate operating points for a current search iteration. The method further includes iteratively determining an operating cost for operating the internal combustion engine at each candidate operating point of the current search iteration, and determining the preferred operating point for operating the internal combustion engine after a predetermined number of search iterations.
Abstract:
A method for controlling an input torque provided to a transmission includes executing a first iterative search within a first range of permissible torque values to determine a first torque value based on a first cost value. The first cost value is based on a first set of powertrain measurements measured at a first time. A second cost value based on a second torque value and the first set of powertrain measurements measured at the first time is calculated. The second torque value is determined using a second set of powertrain measurements measured at a second time prior to the first time. One of the first torque value and the second torque value is then selected based on the first cost value and the second cost value.
