Abstract: According to one aspect, a thermal protection device is provided having an electrical input for receiving input DC power and an electrical output for connection to a load. A heating circuit is coupled to the electrical input for developing one of first and second different heat magnitudes depending upon a temperature magnitude in the housing. An additional circuit is in thermal communication with the heating circuit for providing output DC power to the electrical output when the first heat magnitude is developed and for interrupting the output DC power when the second heat magnitude is developed.

Additionally, the optical waveguide comprises optical features on at least first, second, and third sides thereof.

Abstract: A sensor module for a lighting fixture includes a light sensor and a sensor cover over the light sensor. The sensor cover includes a front surface and a light focusing surface opposite the front surface. The front surface is configured to face an area of interest that is generally illuminated by the lighting fixture. The light focusing surface is opposite the front surface and includes a number of lens sections, each of which is configured to focus light from a different portion of the area of interest toward the light sensor. By including a number of lens sections each focusing light from a different portion of the area of interest, a relatively large area of interest can be observed while maintaining desirable aesthetics of the sensor module.

Abstract: Light emitter packages, systems, and methods having multiple light emitter chips and operable at multiple voltages are provided. In some aspects, light emitter packages described herein include a submount having a plurality of contact pads and a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) chips disposed over one or more surfaces thereof. The plurality of contact pads are configured to pass electrical current into the plurality of LED chips for allowing the package to be operable in at least two different voltages. The package can be operable at approximately 3 volts (V) or more, approximately 6V or more, approximately 9 V or more, approximately 12V or more, approximately 18 V or more, or approximately 36 V or more.

Abstract: Solid state lighting apparatuses, systems, and related methods are described. A solid state lighting apparatus includes an array of solid state light emitters arranged on or over the substrate and a plurality of driving components arranged on or over the substrate. The driving components are configured to independently activate and deactivate at least some of the solid state light emitters of the array of solid state light emitters during a portion of an alternating current (AC) cycle. A method of providing a solid state lighting apparatus includes providing a substrate, mounting an array of solid state light emitters on or over the substrate, and providing a plurality of driving components on or over the substrate. A solid state lighting system includes a solid state lighting apparatus having an array of solid state light emitters, driving components, and a rectifying circuit for rectifying current supplied to the driving components.

Abstract: A luminaire comprises an optical element. The optical element comprises a coupling portion that comprises a coupling cavity that extends along a length of the optical element. The coupling cavity is configured to receive at least one light emitting diode. The optical element further comprises first and second sections extending away from the coupling portion of the optical element along the length of the coupling cavity. The first section comprises a first thickness closer to the coupling portion and a second thickness further from the coupling portion. The first thickness is greater than the second thickness. The second section comprises a third thickness closer to the coupling portion and a fourth thickness further from the coupling portion. The third thickness is greater than the fourth thickness. Light is extracted out of extraction features of opposing sides of at least one section.

Abstract: A lighting apparatus including an LED light emitter having an axis. The apparatus comprising a first lens over the emitter a second lens spaced over the first lens. The first lens is configured to direct LED-emitted light primarily toward a preferential radial side with respect to the emitter axis. The first lens may be an asymmetric primary lens. The first lens may have a centerline which is offset from the emitter axis toward the preferential radial side. Alternatively or in addition, the first lens may have an outer surface configured to direct LED-emitted light primarily toward the preferential radial side. The second lens may be asymmetric and be configured to further direct the light primarily toward the preferential radial side. The secondary lens may include inner and outer surfaces each shaped to direct received light primarily toward the preferential side.

Abstract: A lighting fixture includes a front end-portion having an edge defining a light opening and a back end-portion spaced from the opening which has a centerline. At least one LED emitter on the mounting board disposed at the back end-portion for directing light toward the opening, the emitter(s) being off-centerline in a first lateral direction. The optical component includes a refractive portion disposed between the first and second sides and extending along the length between the first and second ends, and a plurality of separate reflective portions. At least one of the plurality of separate reflective portions is spaced from the refractive portion and extending along the length between the first and second ends.
