    摘要: A field assembled gas riser includes an adapter having plural inner grooves that receive the outer surface of a plastic gas line as it is plastically deformed by axial insertion of a stiffener into the gas line. The gas line is terminated at a desired location, the adapter slid over the terminated end, and a stiffener manually inserted into the gas line. Continued axial advancement of the stiffener acts as a mandrel to plastically deform the gas line into the grooves and provide a secure, sealed arrangement.

    摘要: A method of forming an axle assembly having a hollow member. A hollow member such as a cylindrical tube is formed into a polygonal cross-section having an end portion. Bulkheads maybe located into the hollow member prior or after the polygonal forming step to improve proximate strength and transfer suspension bending moments. The end portions are formed to receive a preformed king pin boss having an end portion of approximately the same size as the frustoconical end. The members are welding together and the king pin and hollow member are bent to a desired axle shape. In another method sequence, the kingpin boss is directly formed into the end of the hollow member.

    摘要: A suspension system includes a fluid strut, an accumulator and a reservoir. The accumulator and reservoir are in fluid communication with the fluid strut through an accumulator valve and a reservoir valve respectively. A fluid pump pressurizes the accumulator with an incompressible fluid stored in the reservoir. A piston valve is located within a piston to selectively permit fluid communication between a high pressure side and a low pressure side of the piston. A controller operates each valve and the fluid pump to control flow of the incompressible fluid within the fluid strut to obtain an infinitely variable self centering suspension system.

    摘要: A king pin is mounted in a hollow axle. An insert is force fit into each end of the hollow axle. The insert includes an aperture that aligns with an aperture in a wall of the hollow axle to provide a mount structure for the king pin. This mount structure thus provides a solid and reliable mount in a very simplified manner. The hollow axle and insert are also provided with draw key holes such that bolts may lock the king pin within the insert and the hollow axle.
