    摘要: A portable information processor includes a computer main body and a digitizer connected by a flexible hinge defined in a cover. The hinge allows the computer main body and the digitizer to assume different superposed states by means of a flexible separable portion of the cover. In the superposed state of the computer main body and the digitizer, arbitrariness in folding back the separable portion causes runout between the computer main body and the digitizer. In spite of this runout, the superposed state can be accurately detected by means of an optical sensor, including an infrared radiator and an infrared-ray detector, disposed in the computer main body. A flexible reflection member is fixed to a predetermined surface of the separable portion of the leather cover, while assuring a predetermined area. If the computer main body and the digitizer assume a superposed state, light emitted from the infrared radiator is reflected by the flexible reflection member and is incident on the infrared-ray detector.

    摘要: A computer system has a central processing unit (“CPU”) and a plurality of peripheral devices. A bus interconnects the CPU and the peripheral devices. Command signals are transmitted over the bus including an initiator ready signal (“IRDY”), a device select signal (“DEVSEL”) and a target ready signal (“TRDY”). First and second direct memory access devices (“DMA”) are connected to the bus and assigned the same address space. First and second switches selectively connect and disconnect the DEVSEL and TRDY signals that are output from the first and second DMA devices, respectively. Controller logic receives the DEVSEL and TRDY signals and directs the opening and closing of the first and second switches.

    摘要: To provide a docking station for a portable computer, which increases its heat radiation when the docking station is docked with the portable computer. A docking station is equipped with a fan unit at a back portion of a power supply unit within a station body, and a front surface of a connection portion with which a notebook PC is docked is provided with an air suction opening. Thereby, once the fan unit is driven, high temperature air is exhausted from a station body and the connection portion, then outside air is introduced from the suction opening to stimulate the cooling of the connection portion, and the heat which is transferred from a back side portion of the notebook PC to the connection portion is also dissipated there to stimulate the cooling of the notebook PC side.

    摘要: Disclosed is a docking unit which includes a mechanical lock having an unlock position and a lock position. A security key is provided for manipulating the mechanical lock to move between the unlock position and the lock position. The security key is (1) detachable from the mechanical lock at the lock position and (2) undetachable from the mechanical lock at the unlock position. The docking unit further includes a latch for securing a portable computer to the unit in response to positioning of the mechanical lock in the lock position and releasing the computer from the unit in response to positioning of the mechanical lock in the unlock position. The unit also includes an inhibitor for selectively inhibiting the mechanical lock from movement to the lock position.
