Abstract: The present technology relates to articulating endoscopes and methods for manufacturing articulating endoscopes. An example endoscope includes an outer jacket extending a length of the endoscope; an outer wall, interior to the outer jacket, of an extrusion extending at least 80% of the length of the endoscope and ending at a bendable region of the endoscope; an inner wall, interior to the outer wall, extending at least 90% of a length of the endoscope and through the bendable region, the inner wall defining a working channel through the endoscope; a plurality of fins extending from the inner wall to the outer wall and defining a plurality of auxiliary channels between the inner wall and the outer wall; a first pull wire extending through a first auxiliary channel of the plurality of auxiliary channels; and a second pull wire extending through a second auxiliary channel of the plurality of auxiliary channels.

Abstract: An endoscope includes an insertion part, an end surface provided on a distal end of the insertion part, a plurality of illuminating lenses disposed on the end surface, a forceps port disposed on the end surface, an imaging sensor configured to capture an image of a subject, an imaging lens disposed on the end surface on a same optical path as the imaging sensor, and a measurement auxiliary light head from which measurement auxiliary light is radiated within an imaging range of the image captured by the imaging sensor, the measurement auxiliary light head being disposed on the end surface. When the end surface is viewed from a front, the plurality of illuminating lenses are disposed on two sides of an optical axis of the measurement auxiliary light and are disposed on two sides of a line connecting the forceps port and the imaging lens.

Abstract: A guidewire, consisting of a flexible biocompatible tube, having a tube distal end, the tube containing an internal lumen and being configured to be inserted into an orifice of a body of a living subject. A planar resilient strip is inserted into the internal lumen, the strip having a strip proximal end and a strip distal end fixed to the tube distal end. A coil spring is fixed to the strip proximal end so that an axis of symmetry of the coil is coplanar with the strip, the coil spring containing a coil lumen. A wire is threaded through the coil lumen and has a termination fixed to the strip distal end, so that pulling on the wire causes the strip and the tube to bend.

Abstract: A system and method for enhanced surgical navigation and graphical user interfaces associated therewith. The system includes a 3D endoscope and a computing device including a display for displaying the graphical user interfaces. The 3D endoscope includes a camera source and a scan source and is utilized to generate a 3D spatial map of a surgical site. A position of a surgical tool is detected in the 3D spatial map, a distance between the position of the surgical tool in the 3D spatial map and a location of an anatomy is detected, and a warning is generated when it is determined that the distance between the position of the surgical tool in the 3D spatial map and the location of the anatomy is equal to or not greater than a threshold minimum distance.

Abstract: A fluid management and medical device system may include a fluid management system and a medical device having one or more sensors proximate the distal end of the elongate shaft of the medical device. The controller of the fluid management system may be configured to calculate a fluid deficit when the distal end of the elongate shaft is disposed within a patient and configured to automatically pause fluid deficit calculation when the distal end of the elongate shaft is removed from the patient. In some instances the controller is configured to calculate the fluid deficit using rotational speed of the inflow pump in combination with a difference between a change in weight of a fluid supply source supplying fluid to the fluid management system and a change in weight of a collection container collecting fluid from the fluid management system.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling a capsule endoscope is provided. The control method includes: measuring a magnetic field value of the environment in which the capsule endoscope is subjected; obtaining a critical magnetic field value for suspension of the capsule endoscope according to the magnetic field value; adjusting a traction force on the capsule endoscope according to the critical magnetic field value for suspension; and controlling the movement of the capsule endoscope in a horizontal and/or vertical direction, wherein the movement of the first magnet is controlled by moving the second magnet, and the capsule endoscope is in a quasi-suspended state as moving in the horizontal and/or vertical direction. The system and method reduce friction between the capsule endoscope and wall of the target area during movement by controlling the capsule endoscope in a quasi-suspended state, which makes the scanning of the target area more accurate.
