摘要: A suture made of a woven braid of fibers is provided. The suture includes: at least one first end; at least one second end comprising a colorable material wherein the second end has been colored a single color along an entire length of the second end; and at least one third end comprising a colorable material wherein only a portion of the third end is colored a continuous color. In another embodiment, a method of manufacture of a suture is provided. The method includes: braiding an elongate suture from a first end, a second end comprising a colorable material, and a third end comprising a colorable material; coloring the second end a single first color along an entire length of the second end; coloring only a first portion of the third end a second color.

摘要: Provided are a medical suture having micro cogs on a surface thereof and a method of manufacturing the medical suture. The method of manufacturing a medical suture includes steps of: producing a suture preform where micro cogs are formed on a surface thereof by heating and pressing a raw material of a suture for surgery in an overflow mould in a heat-press solid-phase forming method; and producing a suture with twist maintained by applying a tensile force and a rotational force to the suture preform in a vacuum state where a specific temperature condition is maintained.

摘要: A colored suture includes an elongate woven braid of filaments including one or more ends made of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). The suture also includes second and third ends which can be colorable or dyeable before or after incorporation into the elongate woven braid. This invention provides surgeons with improved recognition of suture ends in surgery by construction of a bi-colored co-braid with at least two ends of different color schemes or patterns braided into a UHMWPE construction. One of the colored ends runs continuously from one end of the suture to the other end. The other colored end can be colored only on one half of the end. This provides a suture with two distinguishable ends, while still maintaining a continuous line of color along the length of the suture.

摘要: The present invention can provide a coded surgical suture, which is capable of affording a visual identification effect for determining the direction or end portions of the surgical suture. The surgical suture can have an elongated body member having first and second end portions. A coding member can be provided on one of the two end portions of the body member to afford a visual identification effect. In an exemplary embodiment, the coding member can have a color element. The present invention can also provide a coding system for identifying the direction or the end portions of a surgical suture or for distinguishing between different surgical sutures.

摘要: A process for tipping surgical sutures includes dispensing tipping agent one drop at a time and contacting the suture portion to be tipped with the drop of tipping agent. A transversely oriented lifting/wiping string may be used to lift the suture into contact with the drop and may wipe away excess tipping agent. Alternatively, a transversely oriented string may be used to catch a drop and then place the drop onto the suture. The tipping agent absorbed into the tipped portion can then be cured and cut to provide a tipped suture. The tipping process and apparatus can be used in conjunction with a needle-suture assembly process. The process advantageously controls application of a droplet of tipping agent to minimize the amount of tipping agent used, thereby providing an aesthetic needle-suture attachment. Apparatus are disclosed for performing the process.
