The present invention is an exhaust gas purification catalyst equipment, and a method of use thereof, formed by arranging a selective catalytic reduction type catalyst for purifying nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas exhausted from lean combustion engines using ammonia or urea as a reducing agent, it is provided with a selective catalytic reduction type catalyst, characterized in that said catalyst comprises a lower-layer catalyst layer (A) having an oxidative function for nitrogen monoxide (NO) in exhaust gas and an upper-layer catalyst layer (B) having an adsorbing function for ammonia on the surface of a monolithic structure type carrier (C), and that the lower-layer catalyst layer (A) comprises a noble metal component (i), an inorganic base material constituent (ii) and zeolite (iii), and the upper-layer catalyst layer (B) comprises substantially none of component (i) but the component (iii), in a flow path of exhaust gas, characterized in that a spraying means to supply an urea aqueous solution or an aqueous ammonia solution is arranged in the downstream of the aforementioned oxidation catalyst and in the upstream of aforementioned selective catalytic reduction type catalyst.

A system and method of pre-purification of a feed gas stream is provided that is particularly suitable for pre-purification of a feed air stream in cryogenic air separation unit. The disclosed pre-purification systems and methods are configured to remove substantially all of the hydrogen, carbon monoxide, water, and carbon dioxide impurities from a feed air stream and is particularly suitable for use in a high purity or ultra-high purity nitrogen plant. The pre-purification systems and methods preferably employ two or more separate layers of hopcalite catalyst with the successive layers of the hopcalite separated by a zeolite adsorbent layer that removes water and carbon dioxide produced in the hopcalite layers.

Multi-zoned synergized-platinum group metals (SPGM) catalysts with significant catalytic capabilities are disclosed. The multi-zoned SPGM catalysts are produced according to catalyst configurations including OC layers of ultra-low PGM loadings, alone or in combination with a base metal oxide, which are deposited onto either mixtures of doped ZrO2 and oxygen storage materials (OSM) or OSM alone. Further, the multi-zoned SPGM catalysts further include zoned impregnation layers with PGM, alone or in combination with Ba loadings. Additionally, three-zoned SPGM catalysts are produced including front and back zone catalysts that include binary spinel oxide compositions. Conversion performance of the aged SPGM catalysts and an aged PGM-based OEM catalyst are tested employing TWC low perturbation isothermal oscillating, isothermal steady-state sweep, and light-off test methodologies. Test results confirm the SPGM catalysts including ultra-low PGM loadings and spinel-based ZPGM WC layer are capable of providing significant conversion performance that is comparable to high PGM-based OEM catalyst.
