The present invention relates to a catalyst for synthesizing ethylenimine as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The related catalyst comprises a carrier and metal ions loaded on the carrier; the carrier is a composite oxide comprising titanium, silicon and phosphorus elements; the metal ions are magnesium ions, iron ions and cesium ions; the molar ratio of the magnesium ions to the iron ions to the cesium ions is (1-10):1:0.1; the mass of all metal ions is 0.5-10 percent of that of the carrier. In the related preparation method, a catalyst precursor is roasted at the temperature of 350-650° C., so that the catalyst is obtained; the catalyst precursor is the mixture of the carrier, soluble salt of magnesium, soluble salt of iron and soluble salt of cesium. The present invention also provides the application of the catalyst to synthesis of the ethylenimine by using amino alcohol as the raw material. Compared with a common catalyst which has the requirement on the temperature of over 400° C., the catalyst of the present invention obviously reduces the reaction temperature. The prepared catalyst can catalyze the intramolecular dehydration reaction of the amino alcohol and has relatively excellent selectivity.

Base-treated catalyst compositions may be used. Also provided are processes for contacting an initial catalyst composition comprising the hydroxyapatite with a base to produce a base-treated catalyst composition, and the base-treated catalyst compositions so obtained.

The process for producing an olefin dimer of the present invention includes a first step of carrying out a dimerization reaction of an olefin in the presence of a solid phosphoric acid catalyst in which phosphoric acid is supported on inorganic support particles at a reaction temperature of 55 to 300° C. by introducing into a reactor an olefin-containing raw material containing water in an amount of 10 ppm by mass or more and less than the saturated water content at the reaction temperature, thereby preparing a reaction product containing an olefin dimer, a second step of washing the reaction product prepared in the first step at a temperature of 50° C. or higher using an alkaline substance-containing water adjusted to pH 8 to 13 and a third step of washing the reaction product after the alkaline washing in the second step with water at a temperature of 0 to 110° C., thereby preparing an olefin dimer.

The present invention provides a solid phosphoric acid catalyst which attains high activity and dimer selectivity in olefin dimerization reaction and an efficient method for dimerization of olefin using the same. The solid phosphoric acid catalyst comprises phosphoric acid supported on a siliceous carrier, the proportion of orthophosphoric acid in the phosphoric acid supported being 60 mol % or more in terms of phosphorus atom amount. The solid phosphoric acid catalyst is prepared by bringing a phosphoric acid aqueous solution into contact with the siliceous carrier followed by drying, the preparation step being carried out at a temperature lower than 100° C. Also provided is a method for bringing an olefin-containing raw material into contact with the catalyst. In this method, the olefin-containing raw material contains water in an amount of 10 to 1000 mass ppm, the olefin-containing raw material is brought into contact with the solid phosphoric acid catalyst in a liquid phase, and the olefin is a monoolefin having 3 to 7 carbon atoms.

The solid phosphoric acid catalyst comprises a carrier and phosphoric acid supported thereon. When the solid phosphoric acid catalyst is heated at 250° C. for 20 minutes, heating loss of water is 50 mass % or more based on diphosphorus pentaoxide (P2O5) derived from the phosphoric acid. One of the methods of olefin dimerization reaction comprises bringing an olefin-containing feed material containing water in an amount of 10-1000 mass ppm into contact with the catalyst to initiate the reaction. Another method of olefin dimerization reaction comprises successively conducting the following steps: a step (1) in which a hydrocarbon containing water in an amount of 10-1000 mass ppm and containing substantially no olefin is brought into contact with the above mentioned catalyst; a step (2) in which the pressure and temperature are regulated to conditions suitable for the initiation of olefin dimerization reaction; and a step (3) in which the hydrocarbon is displaced with an olefin-containing feed material containing water in an amount of 10-1000 mass ppm to bring the olefin into contact with the solid phosphoric acid catalyst and thereby to initiate the reaction. Still another method is the olefin dimerization reaction method described above wherein the temperature in the reaction initiation conditions is higher by 5-50° C. than the reaction•temperature in olefin dimerization in a stationary state after the step (3).
