Abstract: A method for ascertaining a spatial orientation of a trailer of an autonomously driving towing vehicle with trailer. The method includes the steps of reading in image data of at least one rear-facing camera, assigning image points of the image data to the trailer or to the vehicle surrounding environment, ascertaining a rear trailer edge or at least one point of the rear trailer contour from the image points assigned to the trailer, and determining the trailer angle as a function of image coordinates of the trailer edge or of the point, the dimensions of the trailer, and the position of the camera relative to the support point of the trailer.

Abstract: An apparatus including a capture device, an illumination device and a processor. The capture device may be configured to generate pixel data corresponding to an exterior view from a vehicle. The illumination device may be configured to generate light for the exterior view. The processor may be configured to generate video frames from the pixel data, perform computer vision operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames and generate a control signal. The objects detected may provide data for a vehicle maneuver. The control signal may adjust characteristics of the light generated by the illumination device. The characteristics of the light may be adjusted in response to the objects detected by the processor. The light from the illumination device may facilitate detection of the objects by the processor.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system of historical reaction based driver advanced assistance. In this method, a combination of external environment to a vehicle on which the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is mounted fetched by forward looking cameras is combined with rear looking camera for internal environment or driver state, is generated. The generated combination is utilized to analyze is there is any critical situation that is upcoming. For providing feedback for such situation, processor within the ADAS transmits the current combination situation to a remote server that stores historical feedback and driver reactions for various combination of situations. For the current combination situation, a historical combination situation is fetched and corresponding feedbacks analyzed and an ideal feedback, that has comparatively least number of negative driver reactions, is determined.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing surrounding images of a vehicle are provided. In the method, plural cameras disposed on the vehicle are used to capture images of plural perspective views surrounding the vehicle. The images of the perspective views are transformed into images of a top view. An interval consisted of at least a preset number of consecutive empty pixels is found from one column of pixels in each image of the top view, and the images of the perspective views and the top view are divided into floor side images and wall side images according to the height of the interval in the image. The divided floor side images and wall side images are stitched to generate a synthetic image surrounding the vehicle.

Abstract: When detecting an object of interest, such as a bicyclist passing a truck, two downward looking cameras both capture images of the cyclist and detect the cyclist as a deviation from the flat ground plane. The ground plane is reconstructed using a homography (projection) matrix of each camera and compared. Where the camera images do not agree, the ground is not flat. The cyclist is located as the intersection of the rays extending to either end of the area of disagreement between the images.

Abstract: A parking assistance apparatus for a vehicle, and including a camera configured to photograph surroundings of the vehicle; an interface configured to receive sensor information from the vehicle; a display configured to display a graphic image about an automatic parking function of the vehicle; and a processor configured to initiate the automatic parking function by controlling the vehicle to travel to a target parking position, detect a traveling resistance of the vehicle from the sensor information while the vehicle is traveling to the target parking position, determine a factor causing the traveling resistance, continue controlling the vehicle to travel to the target parking position when the detected traveling resistance is less than a predetermined resistance, and change the controlling of the vehicle to travel to the target parking position to offset the factor causing the traveling resistance, when the detected traveling resistance is equal to or greater than the predetermined resistance.

Abstract: A stereo camera includes a first lens and a second lens, a first light shield unit and a second light shield unit respectively provided at front sides of the first and second lenses to shield light incident on the first and second lenses, a first fan and a second fan respectively provided at the sides of the first and second lenses to defrost a windshield of a vehicle, and a front case in which the first and second light shield units are provided at both sides of a main body. The first and second light shield units are attachable to or detachable from the front case, a width of the first light shield unit is less than a length thereof and is greater than a height thereof, and a distance between the first and second lenses is greater than the width of the first light shield unit.
