Abstract:
The present invention relates to an integrated multi-zone process for conversion of alkanes to their corresponding alkenes, involving exothermically converting a portion of an alkane to its corresponding alkene by oxidative dehydrogenation in an exothermic reaction zone, in the presence of oxygen and a suitable catalyst, and then feeding the products of the exothermic reaction zone to an endothermic reaction zone wherein at least a portion of the remaining unconverted alkane is endothermically dehydrogenated, in the presence of carbon dioxide and an other suitable catalyst.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of preparation of a supported catalyst composition suitable for the oxidation of ethane to ethylene and/or acetic acid, and/or the oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid, which supported catalyst composition comprises a catalyst, comprising one or more metal components, on a support comprising alpha-alumina, and which method comprises (a) forming a slurry comprising the one or more metal components, and alpha-alumina support particles or an alpha-alumina support precursor, (b) spray-drying the slurry, and, optionally, (c) calcining the spray-dried slurry to form the supported catalyst composition. The present invention also provides a supported catalyst composition formed by the above method, and a process for the selective oxidation of ethane to ethylene and/or acetic acid, and/or the selective oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid utilising the supported catalyst composition.
Abstract:
An oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) catalyst composition comprising one or more oxides doped with Ag; wherein one or more oxides comprises a single metal oxide, mixtures of single metal oxides, a mixed metal oxide, mixtures of mixed metal oxides, or combinations thereof; and wherein one or more oxides is not La2O3 alone. A method of making an OCM catalyst composition comprising calcining one or more oxides and/or oxide precursors to form one or more calcined oxides, wherein the one or more oxides comprises a single metal oxide, mixtures of single metal oxides, a mixed metal oxide, mixtures of mixed metal oxides, or combinations thereof, wherein the one or more oxides is not La2O3 alone, and wherein the oxide precursors comprise oxides, nitrates, carbonates, hydroxides, or combinations thereof; doping the one or more calcined oxides with Ag to form the OCM catalyst composition; and thermally treating the OCM catalyst composition.
Abstract:
Process for the selective oxidation of ethane to ethylene and/or acetic acid, and/or the selective oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid, by contacting ethane and/or ethylene with a molecular oxygen-containing gas at elevated temperature in the presence of a spray-dried supported catalyst composition. The supported catalyst composition includes molybdenum, vanadium and niobium metal components, supported on a support comprising alpha-alumina. The supported catalyst is prepared by forming a slurry of the metal components and alpha-alumina support particles or an alpha-alumina support precursor, and spray-drying the slurry.

Abstract:
According to a process of the invention, a ketone, an aromatic compound and hydrogen as starting materials are reacted together in a single reaction step to produce an alkylaromatic compound in high yield. A process for producing phenols in the invention includes a step of performing the above alkylation process and does not increase the number of steps compared to the conventional cumene process. The process for producing alkylated aromatic compounds includes reacting an aromatic compound such as benzene, a ketone such as acetone and hydrogen in the presence of a solid acid substance, preferably a zeolite, and a silver-containing catalyst.
