Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a fiber-reinforced material and an article made of the same. The fiber-reinforced material includes a fiber assembly and a matrix material coating the fiber assembly, the matrix material is a thermoplastic resin composition obtained by blending a polyolefin resin, a polyamide resin, and a modified elastomer that reacts with the polyamide resin. When a puncture test is performed at a striker speed of 1-4 msec and when a maximum impact force is applied is defined as PM and a deflection at break is defined as PB, PB/PM≥4. When the amount of energy absorbed before a maximum impact force is applied is E1, the amount of energy absorbed after a maximum impact force is applied and before break is E2, and a total amount of absorbed energy of E1 and E2 is ET, the ratio of E2:ET is 70% or more.
Abstract:
A stretchable piezoelectric thin film, and method of manufacture, an open mesh structure formed by a repeating branching and joining pattern. The thin film is manufactured by slowly lifting amino acid nanofibrils from a water-alcohol biphasic solvent. The film automatically assembles into a truss-like mesh network of amino acid nanofibrils that allows the open meshes to close with narrowed intersection angles between the amino acid nanofibrils. The alcohol molecules of the water-alcohol biphasic solvent preferably bind to the carboxyl groups on the amino acid surfaces thus limiting the growth along the side facets of the amino acid surfaces and promoting growth along the growth front producing a bifurcation in the amino acid biocrystal network.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic prepreg is disclosed having fully impregnated filaments. The prepreg is formed by having a plurality of continuous fibers that are substantially oriented in a longitudinal direction, the continuous fibers constituting from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg, a first resinous matrix that contains a first set of one or more thermoplastic polymers and within which the continuous fibers are embedded, wherein the thermoplastic polymers constitute from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg, and a second resinous matrix that contains a second set of one or more thermoplastic polymers, wherein the second set of thermoplastic polymers constitute from about 30 wt. % to about 40 wt. % of the prepreg.

Abstract:
A double network hydrogel including a polymer (A) having a persistence length between 10 and 1000 nm; a flexible polymer (B), wherein the persistence length is measured according to single molecule force microscopy measurement, wherein polymer (B) has an extended coil conformation at a first condition and a collapsed globular conformation at a second condition. Polymer (A) preferably is a polyisocyanate, while polymer (B) is a crosslinked flexible polymer like for example PNIPAM. A method for making a double network hydrogel.
Abstract:
A hydrogel based on a cross-linked γ-polyglutamic acid and ε-polylysine polymer is obtained by cross-linking of γ-polyglutamic acid with ε-polylysine, and it is a polymer having the following constitutional unit, wherein, m is a natural number of 15 to 45, n is a natural number of 3900 to 17000, and x is a natural number of 5 to 40. It also discloses a preparation method of as-described hydrogel and its application in preparation as a medical wound dressing.
