摘要: A seal groove is cut in the distal end face of a wrap of a fixed scroll, with a tip seal being fitted in the seal groove. Swelling members are interposed between both side faces of the tip seal and corresponding opposite side faces of the wrap. Condensed liquid of working medium w and water condensed from steam contained in the working medium w that are present between the tip seal and an end plate provide a sealing effect. When the swelling members swell upon absorbing the condensed liquids, they exert a strong pressing force on the tip seal and the wrap, thereby firmly retaining the tip seal in position. This prevents the tip seal from being pressed against the end plate, so that wear of the tip seal is reduced.

It is a mixture having a cone penetration value of 2-40 which includes (a) liquid or semi-solid organic material having a viscosity of 50-100,000 c.st. at 210.degree. F and (b) a phosphoric acid compound substituted with one or more nitrogen-containing groups. The putty may also contain (c) polyhydric alcohols and/or carbohydrates for increased fire retardancy, (d) blowing agents for increased insulating effect, (e) grease, for high temperature flow resistance, (f) heat resistant fiber, for reinforcement, (g) microballoons, for increased insulating effect and other additives. The enclosed drawing discloses particularly desirable proportions for the components (c) and (d) in relation to the amount of component (b).

摘要: The water-swellable adhesive water stop of the invention is advantageous in respect of the improved workability and high water-stopping power as a consequence of the unique formulation of the rubber composition from which the water stop is prepared by shaping and vulcanization. The rubber composition comprises: (A) a butyl rubber; (B) a highly water-absorptive resin; (C) an inorganic water-absorbent; (D) a tackifier; (E) a plasticizer; (F) a vulcanizing agent; and, optionally, (G) a basic filler each in a limited amount relative to the component (A). The water stop is further characterized by a tensile strength in the range from 1 to 30 kgf/cm.sup.2, 100% elastic modulus in the range from 1 to 4 kgf/cm.sup.2, ultimate elongation at break of at least 300% and degree of swelling in water in the range from 150 to 500% by weight after immersion in water for 21 days at 23.degree.
