摘要: A system includes a controller that has a processor. The processor is configured to receive a first signal from a first sensor indicative of a first exhaust measurement, wherein the first sensor is disposed at a catalytic converter system inlet of a catalytic converter system. The processor is further configured to derive one or more of an estimated length, estimated volume, or estimated transport delay of an exhaust conduit based on the first signal, wherein a first end of the exhaust conduit is connected to an engine outlet of a engine, and a second end of the exhaust conduit is connected to the catalytic converter system inlet; and to apply the one or more of estimated length, estimated volume, or estimated transport delay of the exhaust conduit during control of the engine.

摘要: The invention relates to a control device of an engine, including fuel supplying means, target fuel supply amount setting means, fuel supply command value providing means, supplied air amount detection means, air-fuel ratio detection means, air-fuel ratio calculation means, exhaust gas component concentration detection means and exhaust gas component concentration calculation means. In the invention, the fuel supply command value or the fuel supply amount grasped therefrom is amended and the amount of the air detected by the supplied air amount detection means is amended such that the difference between the air-fuel ratio detected by the air-fuel ratio detection means and the air-fuel ratio calculated by the air-fuel ratio calculation means and the difference between the concentration of the specified component detected by the exhaust gas component concentration detection means and the concentration of the specified component calculated by the exhaust gas component concentration calculation means become small.

One example method comprises during engine fueling below a threshold amount where at least one intake valve and one exhaust valve of the engine are operating: generating an equilibrium value of an exhaust gas constituent reading of the exhaust gas sensor, the equilibrium value based on a trajectory of the exhaust gas constituent reading, and under selected engine combusting conditions, adjusting the sensor signal based on the equilibrium value.

摘要: A multi-cylinder group engine system operable in at least a first mode and a second mode, where in the first mode a first and second cylinder group combust air and fuel with a lean air-fuel ratio, and where in the second mode at least one of the first and second cylinder groups combusts air and fuel and the other one of the first and second cylinder groups pumps air without injected fuel, the engine system comprising of a fuel injection activity sensor coupled to each cylinder in the first and second cylinder groups; a exhaust gas sensor disposed in an exhaust passage to measure air fuel exhausted from the engine; and a controller configured to transition out of the first mode responsive to detection of exhaust gas sensor degradation and to transition out of the second mode responsive to detection of fuel injection sensor degradation. In one example, the transition out of the second mode may be slower than the transition out of the first mode in response to the respective degradation.

摘要: A method and device for operating an internal combustion engine, which diagnose and/or adapt the exhaust-gas recirculation system for, in particular, multibranch internal combustion engines. In this context, the internal combustion engine includes at least one adsorption catalyst in at least one exhaust branch. In addition, at least one exhaust-gas recirculation duct is provided, which is equipped with an exhaust-gas recirculation valve and feeds exhaust gas from the at least one exhaust branch back into at least one air-supply duct, a level of pollutant stored in the at least one adsorption catalyst being ascertained in a first operating state of the internal combustion engine when the exhaust-gas recirculation valve is at least partially open, so that a first value for the pollutant level is produced. In a second operating state of the internal combustion engine, a second value for the pollutant level in the at least one adsorption catalyst is ascertained when exhaust-gas recirculation valve is closed. The first value of the pollutant level is compared to the second value of the pollutant level. A diagnosis and/or an adaptation of an exhaust-gas recirculation system formed by the at least one exhaust-gas recirculation duct, along with its exhaust-gas recirculation valve and its drive circuit, is carried out as a function of the comparison result.

摘要: A system and a method of controlling an engine during and after a temporary fueling shut-off during idling, deceleration or a switch to auxiliary power generating device is presented. According to this method, maintaining power to the heater of an exhaust gas sensor during the temporary shut-off, and thus keeping the sensor operational shortly following resumption of fueling can eliminate a delay in closed loop air-fuel ratio control. This method provides improvements to fuel economy and emission control.

摘要: A method for monitoring efficiency of an exhaust gas aftertreatment device is presented. The efficiency is inferred from the amount of fuel required to perform purge of the device after it has been saturated with exhaust gas components such as NOx and oxygen to a predetermined level. The level of saturation is determined from the amount of tailpipe emissions as indicated by the tailpipe exhaust gas sensor. This method improves precision in determining device efficiency and therefore eliminates unnecessary sulfur purges and improves fuel economy. Also, better emission control is achieved since the tailpipe exhaust gas sensor allows closed loop monitoring of NOx emissions and prevents the device from overfilling.
