A soot separator utilizing a toroid portion to centrifugally separate soot particles from the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine. Upon lesser or no flow of exhaust gas, gravity causes the retained particles to fall within the bottom of the separator. The soot separator further includes a baffle to deflect particles and further enhance soot removal. A method utilizing this soot separator and association with an internal combustion engine are also described herein.

This invention relates to the field of induction cleaning, more particularly to chemically cleaning the induction system of the internal combustion engine. The carbon that accumulates within the induction tract of the internal combustion engine is very difficult to remove. Chemically these carbon deposits are very close to that of asphalt or bitumen. It has been found that if the induction cleaning chemicals are delivered in timed layered intervals the removal of such induction carbon can be accomplished. The Dual Solenoid Induction Cleaner uses electronically controlled solenoids to deliver at least two different chemistries in alternating layers to the engine's induction system. These electric solenoids are connected to a single induction cleaner nozzle. The induction cleaner nozzle is slipped through the vacuum port opening into the inside of the induction system where it will spray an aerosol of the chemistry directly into the moving air column entering the engine.

The connector includes a main flow tube having a mixing channel restricting flow and lowering pressure between an upstream port and a downstream port. A baffle projects into the main flow tube from the inner surface of the mixing channel at a location upstream of an inlet port, obstructing main flow to create a separation zone in the low pressure area, causing rotational flow within the separation zone and lowering the average flow rate in the direction of main flow. A pressure differential allows supplemental fluid to be drawn into the mixing channel through the inlet port. The connector may be used to introduce hydrogen or oxygen gas from an on-board generator into a main flow of hydrocarbon fuel in the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine.

An elongated air intake manifold, for coupling a compressor outlet to the air intake of an internal combustion engine, includes bottom, top and side walls progressing from a circular upstream end through a sweeping curved central section to a 90° bend section terminating in a peripheral rim surrounding an air outlet port. The peripheral rim has opposed proximal and distal sides and a lower surface facing the engine air intake opening. A pair of proximal and distal mounting screw receptacles are formed integrally with and located on the interior and exterior of the manifold, respectively, for receiving mounting screws to secure the manifold to the engine. Preferably, the proximal mounting screw receptacles are arranged so that the heads of the mounting screws extend a minimum distance into the manifold interior. Optionally, one or more turning vanes may be positioned in the bend section interior of the manifold.
