摘要: An engine having at least a primary and secondary fuel supplies is configured to operate by determining a fueling mode for each of first and second groupings of cylinders, independently. A method, therefore, for operating the engine includes monitoring engine operating parameters with an electronic controller, determining an engine operating point based on the engine operating parameters, calculating a first operating mode of a first cylinder grouping based on the engine operating point, calculating a second operating mode of a second cylinder grouping based on the engine operating point, and selectively activating at least one of a diesel injector, a gaseous fuel injector and a spark device in each engine cylinder separately and selectively for each cylinder of the first and second cylinder grouping based on the engine operating point.

摘要: Various methods and systems are provided for adjusting an amount of intake airflow diverted away from an intake manifold and to atmosphere in response to a temperature of exhaust entering a turbocharger turbine and a target pre-turbine temperature. In one example, an amount of intake airflow entering engine cylinders, and thus an air-fuel ratio entering the engine cylinders, may be controlled to maintain the temperature of exhaust entering the turbocharger turbine at the target pre-turbine temperature.

摘要: A dual-fuel injection system having a combustion gas-supply device and a liquid fuel-supply device, including a combustion gas-injector unit with a liquid fuel-control part and a gas nozzle part, to which combustion gas can be supplied. The stroke of a gas nozzle needle of the combustion gas-injector unit can be controlled by liquid fuel supplied to the liquid fuel-control part. The combustion gas-injector unit defines a leakage collecting space, via which a leakage path is lead, the leakage path extending from the liquid fuel-control part into the gas nozzle part. The dual-fuel injection system has a pressure-regulating device, by which a defined pressure level can be set in the leakage collecting space. An implementation method using such a dual-fuel injection system is also proposed.

摘要: Various methods and systems are provided for an intake manifold for an engine. In one example, an insert comprises an annular body having a top surface, bottom surface, inner surface, and outer surface. The insert further comprises a first groove for coupling an intake air port of an intake manifold to a cylinder head, a second groove for circulating gaseous fuel received from a gas runner of the intake manifold, and one or more openings to fluidically couple the second groove to an interior of the intake air port. The insert is configured to mix gaseous fuel and intake air at a coupling location between the intake manifold and the cylinder head.

摘要: The present invention resides in a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine in which selective use is made of a case where a first fuel, being easy to be ignited, is caused to combust by itself, and a case where a second fuel, being hard to be ignited, is also caused to combust by igniting the first fuel, and which is provided with an acquisition unit configured to acquire a combustion state of the second fuel in the case where the second fuel is also caused to combust by igniting the first fuel, and a decision unit configured to decide amounts of supply of the first fuel and the second fuel to be supplied to the internal combustion engine on and after next time, based on the combustion state of the second fuel determined by the acquisition unit.

摘要: This disclosure provides a system and method that eliminates the need for manually calibrating or adjusting a dual fuel internal combustion engine to compensate for variations in composition of a gaseous fuel or other variations, such as ambient or site conditions. The system and method functions by determining an engine load, determining an advantageous gaseous fuel substitution rate from the engine load and speed in addition to an actual gaseous fuel substitution rate, modifying the advantageous gaseous fuel substitution rate by a minimum liquid fuel flow rate, engine protection parameters, and oxidation catalyst protection parameters, and then determining an error term in response to the modified advantageous gaseous fuel substitution rate and the actual gaseous fuel substitution rate. The error term is used to adjust a gaseous fuel control valve.

摘要: A fuel control system for a multiple fuel internal combustion engine may include at least one cylinder pressure sensor associated with each cylinder of the engine. A data collection module may be configured to receive real-time cylinder pressure measurements from each of the at least one cylinder pressure sensors and calculate one or more actual combustion parameter values from the real-time cylinder pressure measurements. A comparison module may be configured to receive the calculated one or more actual combustion parameter values from the data collection module and compare the calculated one or more actual combustion parameter values for each cylinder to reference combustion parameter values to determine any difference therebetween, wherein the reference combustion parameter values are the same for each of the cylinders. A process control module may be configured to control fuel injection of at least two different types of fuel supplied to each cylinder in order to reduce any difference between the calculated actual combustion parameter values for each cylinder and the reference combustion parameter values.

摘要: The disclosure describes an engine system having liquid and gaseous fuel systems, each of which injects fuel directly into an engine cylinder. A controller monitors and controls engine operation in a normal mode, during which the engine produces rated power, and in a limp-home mode, which is used when an abnormal operating condition of the gaseous fuel system is present. During limp-home mode operation, the engine uses more liquid fuel and less or no gaseous fuel relative to the normal mode, and produces power that is less than rated power.
